OTTOMAN TURKISH
ART ACQUIRED
LOS ANGELE (AP) - The Los
Angeles County Museum of Art says it
has acquired ‘’one of the premier col-
lections of Ottoman Turkish art with
the recent gift of 128 rare works from
the renowned collection of Edwin Bin-
ney III.”
The gift includes paintings,
calligraphies,, manuscripts, bookbin-
dings, textiles, ceramics and
metalwork, along with several signifi-
cant Persian works. Considered one of
the most comprehensive groupings out-
side the imperial collections of Istan-
bul, the acquisition affords an oppor-
tunity to trace the development of Ot-
toman art from the 15th through the
early 20th century, the museum says.
