LARGE PROFIT ON LAND.
Clears $2600 on $1000 -Inrctnicnt
Within Siv Months.
To The Herald:
Mission. Texas April 27. An ex
ample showing the enhancement in
land values in the valley and the fine
profits made on investments in laud
here is afforded in the sale just made
at Mission by S. J. Rowe the well
known civil engineer. About six
months ago Mr. Rowe bought forty
acres situated about two miles from
the townsite of Mission at $40 per
acre. This he has just sold at $105
per acre making a clear profit of
$2600 on the investment.
ing of two suits of new clothes two
pairs of shoes two hats and a six-
shooter amounting in all to about
$75 was taken from the house. When
Sergeant Bender returned. he
thought it strange to find the window-
in the front of the house open and at
once made a hasty investigation and
found that the above articles were
missing. Sergeant Bender and
Mr. Fugitt at once scoured the woods
in search of the burglars but were
not successful in bringing them from
cover. It is believed the burglars are
in hiding in the brush and will cross
to Mexico at dark.
