On Wednesday, June 29, the
Silsbee Tigers beat the favored
Jasper team 14-8 in a nine in-
ning game at Jasper. Sheffield
went the route for Silsbee with
Jasper using three hurlers, Davis,
Moore and Evans. Silsbee got
eight hits to Jasper’s five, with
Wallace and McClain leading in
hits with two for five each. Ger-
ald Sanford poled a four-bagger
in the ninth for high spot in the
game.
Silsbee now leads District 20
with three wins and one loss,
with Jasper close behind with
two wins and one loss. Regard-
less of the outcome of yester-
day’s game with Woodville, Sils-
bee must beat Jasper next Tues-
day to take the District cham-
pionship. The Jasper game was
originally scheduled for this Sun-
day but Coach Pierson has sent
word that the game will be play-
ed this Tuesday on the local dia-

5-3 IN SEVEN INNINGS
Putting on a four run rally in
the fourth inning, Landolt’s Ser-
vice Station held their lead and
keep their undefeated position in
the league. The Vets outhit Lan-
dolt six to five and made no er-
rors while Landolts booted two
but were still unable to group
enough to whip the sharp-playing
league leaders. Cotton Redkey
was loser with three walks and
nine strikeouts, while Kinard
chalked up another win with no
walks and three strikeouts. M.
Wilson, Landolt left fielder, was
the only man on either team to
get more than one hit. Wilson
doubled, singled and flyed out
in his three trips to the plate.

Landolt’s Service Station came
out on top 11-10 in a seven in-
ning game that was beyond a
doubt the best game of the sea-
son to date. It was a single game
played last Friday evening with
Allen Kinard the winning hurler
and D. T. Smith and Pete San-
ford sharing mound duties for
the losers. Both teams came up
with 13 safeties and both teams
committed five errors. Cuites, the
manager of Kirbys, and Donal-
son, Landolt manager, had prom-
ised a good game and their play-
ers backed up the promise. Kin-
ard walked two and struck out
none, while the Karby boys walk-
ed four and struck out none.
Both teams hustled all the way
but deciding factors were found
in plays, by Allison, Kinard, Mc-
Clelland and David for the Lan-
dolt squad. McClelland’s strong
arm cut one run off at the plate
and held back more while the
other three boys also played
bang-up ball. The game was
tense all the way and the shout-
ing started when Bill Fuller
drove in Jack David with the
winning run on a long fly to cen-
ter field. Bill led in hits with
three for five with Jones and Ki-
nard each getting two for four.
For Kirby, B. A. Mitchell, Bot-
titt and VanPelt all got two for
