chicks when he came in crying
and said that an old snake was
trying to get his biddie but he
wouldn’t let him have it. He has
two marks on his thumb to show
where the snake had bitten him.

onstration by Mr. Johnson and
Mr. Miers of Beaumont were Mr.
and Mrs. Albert Cook and daugh-
ter, Sarah, Mr. and Mrs. D. P.
Greene and family and Mr. and
Mrs. Harris Puntes and • family.
Mr. and Mrs. Puntes were hosts
for the dinner which was held
Tuesday night. Mr. Johnson and
Mr. Miers made hot cakes Wed-
nesday morning in the home of
each guest. The dinner party and
breakfast were throughly enjoyed
by all.
Mr. and Mrs. J. I. Griffin and
daughters, Charlotte Ann and Di-
ane, of Beaumont were visitors
in the D. P. Greene home Sun-
day.

Friends here extend sympathy
to Mrs. John Parker and children
in the death of Mr. John Parker
which occurred Tuesday night at
the Roy Parker home at Voth.
Funeral arrangements are incom-
plete at this writing. Mr. Parker,
who was in his sixties, had been
ill for quite some time.
The meeting of July 1, Cook’s
Bluff Home Demonstration Club,
was held in the home of Mrs.
Van Landers, Mrs. D. P. Greene
read the prayer, roll was called
and minutes read by Mrs. Jack
Dean. Mrs. Greene led the mem-
bers in a game. Mrs. J. D. Mar-
shall presided in the absence of
the president, Mrs. Fred Winger,
and the vice-president, Mrs. Al-
bert Cook. Mrs. Marshall gave a
report on Council and told of re-
ceiving a letter from Austria in
response to a CARE package

night due to the sudden illness
and death of his aunt, Mrs. Hor-

to the bedside of her daughter
who will undergo surgery as soon

Victoria and Mrs. L. T. Daiels
of Port Neches were visitors in
the H. D. Weeks home and Mrs.
Weeks accompanied them to a
homecoming Sunday at the
Friendship church near Jasper.
After returning here Mr. and Mrs.
Berkman went on to Port Neches
for a visit in the Daniels home.
Mrs. M. E. Weeks of Beaumont
also visited here in the H. D.
Weeks home several days ago.
Warren Ogle of Beaumont dir-
ected the song service in Loeb
Baptist church Sunday, which
was a record day in Sunday
School. All services were well at-
tended.
Walter Sikes, has recovered
from a spider bite on his hand
and was able to play on the jun-
ior ball team Tuesday when the
North and South Loeb teams
played a game near-the home of
Mrs. Mattie Chance. The South
team won. Mr. Gary, Mr. Wag-
goner and Mr. Sikes are doing
fine work with these youths.
The Rudolph Smith family are
enjoying a vacation in Mississip-
pi this week .
Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Kennedy
of Loeb and Mr. and Mrs. D. E.
Morris of Hull motored to San
Antonio to visit Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Ledger where the group
celebrated the 30th wedding an-
niversary of Mr. and Mrs. Mor-
ris. It was an enjoyable occasion.
Mrs. J. B. Faggard, Sr. enjoyed
a vacation in Lafayette, La. and
Kountze, Texas.
Miss Jo Ann Gibson has re-
turned from the G. A. Camp held
at Palacious, Texas. She reported
a wonderful trip.
Mr. and Mrs. Gariola and
children of Mooringsport, West
Virginia left last week after a
visit in the home of her father,
H. M. Powell.
H. D. Weeks of Weeks Grocery
carried a group of Junior boys
to Village Creek to enjoy an out-
ing Friday night.
Guests in the D. A. Gibson
home last week were Mrs. Col-
lins, Mrs. McDonald and Mrs.
Mulinix, all of Beaumont.
Bruce Fairchilds visited in the
Clyde Williams home Wednesday
and Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Shawver visited
his doctor in Beaumont Tuesday.
His condition is unchanged.
A group of young people en-
joyed a picnic on the creek Fri-
day night, then journeyed to the
Playground park in Beaumont to
finish an evening of recreation.
A called conference meeting of
Loeb Baptist Church was held
last Wednesday night and the
regular monthly conference will
be held this Wednesday. A good
