ored with a bridal shower at the
L Fellowship Hall of the First Baptist
S Church Thursday, April 4, at 4
MR. AND MRS. MASTON MURPHY of Refugio an-
nounce the engagement and approaching marriage of
their daughter, Mary Elizabeth, to James Garland Mur-
phey, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. A. Murphey, of Freer. The
wedding will take place June 15 at Our Lady of Refuge
Catholic Church.

Hop Quaintance School of Dance
will appear on KSIX TV, channel
10, Saturday, April 13, at 6 p.m.
The program will include ap-
proximately 119 students from Cor-
pus Christi, Sinton, and Beeville.
Students from three years of age
to high school age will feature
numbers in ballet, tap, modern
jazz, bop, and twirling.
Students from Refugio are Mike
Slack, Pam Gumm, Jean Heard,
Claire Heard, Leslie and Allie

Christian Service of the First
Methodist Church met at the
■ home of Mrs. Jack Kelley, Mon-
■ day, April 8, at 9 a.m.
Mrs. Kelley opened the meeting
with a prayer and presided at the
& short business session. The de-
M votional on the newly discovered
sayings of Jesus referred to as
the last “Fifth Gospel” was giv-
en by Mrs. Kelley.

er residence Thursday evening,
April 4.
Host and hostesses for the ocas-
ion were Mr. and Mrs. Albert

baked beans, and relishes were
served to Mr. and Mrs. R. D.

WMU Outlines Plans
For Mission Study
Refugio.— The Woman’s Mission-
ary Union of the First Baptist
Church met at the Fellowship Hall
of the church Monday, April 8,
at 3:30 p.m.
Mrs. C. B. Hutchinson led the
group singing “Faith of Our Fath-
ers” with Mrs. Joe Johnson at the
piano. The opening prayer was
given by Mrs. Ray Gilliam. Mrs.
Joe Olle conducted the business
meeting.
Plans, for group mission study of
“Home Missions U.S.A.” were out-
lined by Mrs. A. G. Kinard. The
group study will be conducted by
Mrs. E. F. Pitzer April 29 at 7:30
p.m.
The Virginia Matnis Circle under
the direction of Mrs. L. C. Morris
presented the following program
concerning Carver’s School of Mis-
sionary Education, which is locat-
ed at Saint Louis, Missouri. Mrs.
Morris gave the history of Carver’s
School. Mrs. Troy Sumrall pre-
sented “WMU Looks Again at
Needs for Training”.
“Social Work in the Church” was
given by Mrs. J. J. Alexander.
Mrs. Joe Olle gave “Leaders for
Tomorrow’s World”. Mrs. Jim Per-
ry gave a special prayer for stu-
dents and for missionaries who
have gone out from the school.
Rebecca Emanuel Circle was
named circle of the month. Mrs.
Grover Nash closed the meeting
with a prayer There were twen-
ty-three members present at the
meeting.

Texas Relays at Austin Saturday.
