visiting with friends and rela-
tives. Often, indeed, young chil-
dren away from home are harder
for the mother to manage than
when they are home. In such a
case, the mother not only falls to
have a vacation but returns more
tired than when she left home
These parents, this year, are
pursuing a new plan. Leaving
their children at home with a
competent baby-sitter, they are
taking two one-week outings by '
themselves. Perhaps in a year or
more, they will take another fam-
ily trip together
Affording a Baby-Sitte
Of course, not all parents can
afford the cost of a baby-sitter,
even for a night or two a week.
But far many more could, if they
used their budget more wisely.
And most who can afford going
on vacation with the whole fam-
ily, could afford the baby-sitter

THE mother, especially one
with young children, may profit
from brief periods of vacation,
while leaving the children with
her husband occasionally. She
also needs some recreation with
her feminine friends.
But far more often, she needs
recreation and vacation with her
husband for several days or weeks
at a stretch. When they have such
recreation and vacation together
they usually tend to cultivate
closer companionship and mutual
affection. In doing so, they can
live more happily and abundantly
with their children.
Primary Relationship
m all we read and hear about
rearing children, little of it em-
phasizes father-mother relation-
ship.as the chief emotional source
>f good parent-child relationship.
Certainly the foremost relation-
ship in the family of growing chil-
dren is the relationship between
the parents.
