READING CONFERENCE
Mrs. Lois Skipping attended
the University of Texas Read-
ing Conference in Austin Sat-
urday. February 20. The Con-
ference was held in the Austin
Municipal Auditorium and was
sponsored by The Texas Asso-
ciation for the Improvement of
Reading.
Speakers were Dr Oscar
Haugh, Professor of Education
at the University of Kansas,
Lawrence, Kansas, and Dr.
Morton Botel, Assistant Super-
intendent of Bucks County

arrangement. Table appoint-
ments were silver and milk
glass. Pink punch, white cake
squares, nuts and mints were
served by Misses Darleen Sher-
wood. Darlain Sherwood, Sandy
Arnold and Cathy Doggett. Mrs.
Jimmy Willhelm of San Angelo
sister-in-law of the honoree,
and Miss Linda Gayle Geeslin,
registered the guests. Musical
selections were presented
throughout the afternoon by
Mrs. Margie Brito and Miss
Jeanie Riley.
Mrs. Benningfield was the re-
cepient of a large number of
beautiful and useful gifts,
which were attractively dis-
played.

roees.

of peat to encourage root
growth in holes before plant-
ing shrubs.
