Stocker and feeder steers were al-
most a minus qualtty. Thera were sev-
eral buyers in the trade Looking for
supplies, but the few loads of cattle
here which were not fat enough to
make desirable killers did not possess
the quality desired by faed>-r-met>. The
market was not quotably changed.
Butcher cows great fy predominated
among the dnyra maiura eat tie offer-
ings. The supply carried a very choice
top end. and several loads of good fat
cowa, but fair to medium killing qial-
ity predominated. The mark*! had a
nuuich better tone than was noted in
iAst week’s late trading, but the activ-
ity was not accompanied by any
strengthening of prices, although the
market was fully ateady. A choice
load of 9$7-1b cows landed at $2.89, and
good kilfrs went from $2,20 to $2.50.

spotted affair, the beet light yealers
and some good caives of aft' weights
selling steady. In general, however, it
was a lower market on most medium
and heavy weights, the, latter declin-

ruled quieter, though the nervousness
on the part of the shorts showed little
abatement. The earlier gains were in
the main steadily held, and the cloae
stood firm, 52 to 59 pointa up at New
Orleans and. 45 to IB up at New York.

swept the market of everything in
sight. Quotations were adanced 35
points at New York and from % 65-16
in the leading southern markets.
