Lords Little Angels Visited by YFD
The Lords Little Angels Daycare was recently visited by the Yoakum Fire Dept, firemen in observance
of Fire Safety Week. The children were able to view their hook and ladder truck. They learned about fire
safety. YFD firemen were: BJ Chomout, Ryan Sweeney and James Herchek.

(NRCS) and local Soil and
Water Conservation Districts
invite the public and any
agencies with an interest in
conservation issues to partici-
pate in a Local Work Group
meetings. Meetings will be
held in DeWitt and Lavaca
Counties on Nov. 6. In Cuero,
for DeWitt County, the meet-
ing will be held at the Friar
Ag Building starting at 9 a.m.
For Lavaca County, the meet-
ing will be in Hallettsville
at the Lavaca County Office
Building Meeting Room, 302
S. La Grange St.
The purpose of this meet-
ing is to receive input from a
broad range of local agencies,
organizat ions, businesses,
and individuals that have an
interest in natural resource
conditions and needs in De
Witt and Lavaca Counties.
Input received will allow
the Local Work Group to make

Jacob Long, Jordan Dixon, Ce-
leste Carroll, McKayla Kutzer,
Justin Dixon, Lara Thamm,
Jesse Berger, Travis Thamm,
Abby Long, Ashtyn McKenzie,
Morgan Vinklarek and Presley
Carter. The County Food Show
is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 26
from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Friar Ag
( enter. Entry forms are due by
Wednesday,Oct. 22.The DeWitt
County Pecan Show is scheduled
for Monday and Tuesday, Nov.
17 and 18 at the St. Michael’s
Parish Hall. T he food items are
due between 7:30 and 9 a.m. on
Monday Nov. 17. Forms are due
to the Extension Office by Nov.
6. A thank you to Tammy and
Jordan Dixon, Amy Webb and
Ann, Lesley and Lisa Seiden-
berger, along with Courtney
and Ashley Carroll for working
the Turkey Fest gate entrances
into the festival from 8:30 p.m.
to 12:30 a.m. Cory Thamm spoke
about Turkey Fest and the need
for clubs like ours to help out.
A thank you to everyone who
took food items to business in
recognition of National 4-H
week and for meeting with the
Mayor to take a picture for the
newspaper. A thank you to all
families who donated money in
the amount of $155 to help with
the Handicapped Fishing Day
in Cuero and for Claire Kutzer
and Sam Vinklarek for helping
with the event. Another thank
you to all families who donated
money towards the family in
the Wagon Wheel 4-H club who
lost their home by fire. We were
able to donate S155 to them.
The Extension Office wants
to thank everyone for helping
with selling ButterBraids. A
total of 817 were sold with a
profit of $3,676.50. Kenneth
Webb stated that if validation
for the Yoakum Stock Show
could be changed to the second
weekend in October, he would
greatly appreciate it. Heidi
Carter gave an update on the
Nutrition Workshop which was
held in Cuero.
Under New Business, animal
brochures were available for
club members. Walter Dixon
gave an update on the Archery
Contest held on Saturday, Oct.
18. He stated that around 64
kids participated. Practices
