Mucala and Arthur Harris, 2nd place Don Hancock and Richard Johnson, 3rd place, Cindy Halderman

Mucala nd Arthur Harris, 2nd place, Taylor Barnes and Richard Johnson. The saddles went to the high-
you hunt.
Laws and regulations
change from year to year
and it is the hunter’s respon-
sibility to know them. Spend
some time with your Outdoor
Annual to get caught up.
If you need clarification
on a law or regulation, give
your local Game Warden a
call. We are more than happy
to spend whatever time is
needed to educate the public.
If you are fortunate enough
to have a youngster to hunt
with, be sure and share your
knowledge with them.
Lastly, those folks who
appreciate our wildlife, es-
pecially hunters, have a duty
to report game violations.
Don’t underestimate how
important those calls are
to us.
Game Wardens depend a
great deal on concerned citi-
zens. We have a lot of coun-
try to cover and need you to
be our “eyes and ears."
Remember, those who vio-
late the game and fish laws
are robbing you and future
generations of a valuable
resource. Don’t be afraid to
make that call.
Any valid report will be
taken seriously, and you do
not have to give your name
Your anonymity will be re-
spected. So, thank you in
advance for helping us deal
with those who choose to
break the law and also for
your continued support.
Again, be safe and good
luck.

The General Deer Hunting
Season is here so I wanted to
take this opportunity to offer
a few suggestions before you
take to the woods.
First and most important-
ly, be safe.
One job that we State
Game Wardens don’t much
care for is investigating hunt-
ing accidents. Thanks to
mandatory Hunter Safety
Education requirements,and
the volunteers that instruct
them, hunting accidents are
relatively few. But, they can
and do happen.
Statistics show that most
hunting accidents happen
to experienced hunters in
and around vehicles and
blinds. Always practice the
basic safe firearm handling
techniques so that your hunt-
ing experience doesn’t turn
tragic.
I want to add a special
note to those who hunt on
small tracts of land. While
there are no regulations that
address the placement of
feeders or stands, extra care
should be taken on these
smaller tracts. Shooting
across a property boundary
is not only dangerous, it is il-
legal. Those who violate this
law can be held responsible
criminally, as well as civilly,
for any injuries or damage
caused by a stray bullet.
Please respect your neigh-
bors and the boundaries that
divide your property.
Secondly, do your home-
work and become familiar
with the game laws where
