John Agar, Lori Nelson
Lyons, of the Lyons Butane and
Furniture Co.. of Rusk and Alto,
is preparing to g0 to Dallas late
in June. There he will attend and
take part in the Tenth Annual
Convention of the Texas Butane
Dealers Association and will at'
tend the Southwestern Butane
Exposition.
These events will attract nation-
wide attention, according to Mr.
Lyons, and attendance at the con-
vention and show is expected from
every section of the United States
and a number of foreign coun-
tries.
The local firm, which is a mem-
ber of the Texas Butane Dealers
Association, already has received
copies of advance convention and
exposition literature and, Mr.
Lyons said the program and the
many entertainment events assure
an unusually interesting and im-
portant gathering.
The dual event in Dallas, June
22, 23 and 24 is of importance to
far more Texans than the more
than six hundred butane dealers
who comprise the Association, the
local butane man pointed out. Bu-
tane and propane gas serve nearly
a million Texans in rural, subur-
ban and semi-urban areas, and
these users of this "magic fuel"
have a direct interest in whatever
affects the industry. At the con-
vention the assembled dealers will
view the newest and most advanc-
ed appliances for use with butane
and propane gas. This list includes
an array of appliances and equip-
ment from one and two-burner hot
¡plates through the entire category'
of space heaters, ranges, water
heaters, clothes driers, well and
irrigation pumps, stationary en-
gines of many types, immense
power plants serving heavy in-

It's estimated that 25,000,000
people have read James T. Far-
rell's famous novel, "Studs Loni-
gan." For years author Farrell has
refused lucrative offers to sell the
story to the movies. Now TV pro-
ducer Lou Kerner has outbid ev-
eryone and acquired the television
rights to the long saga of Studs.
He's making a weekly series out
of it.
The Producer's Showcase pro-
gram on June 27th will have some-
thing new in TV techniques. It will
feature live remotes from the
United States, Canada and Mexico.
Songwriter Harry Owens is hard
at work on a new
song for his
grandson. Back
in 1934 he wrote
"Sweet Leilani"
for his newborn
daughter, LeilanL
ow the latter has become a mo-
ther of a bouncing boy, Danny.
Owens hopes Danny's song will
be just half as popular as the tune
he wrote for Leilani.
Well, we finally have the good
news from our own good old
KLTV in Tyler, Texas, that they
have completde the Microwave Na-
tional Hookup, and already had a
good ball game on last Saturday.
So now we can look forward to
lots of good, live shows from Tyler
too.
