effeet on the market at the time, other
than to steady prices.
Report.-* from Texas. Touisiana and
Mississippi points showing heavy re-
ceipts at inland towns during the week
were industriously circulated today by
the bears- and if this did not have a
depreasinK effect. It at least served to
keep up the spirts of the latter inas-
much as it was argued that these re-
ports pointe to a bearish report.
Spots, steady; quotations, unchanged,
except in the local market, which
marked prices up 1-16c. There was
much lookins around by buyers and
Mies were heavier than for some time
past
Although the bears affected to make
light of the storm damage, it must
have been heavy and when fuller re-
turns are in. the effect on the market
may he decidely bullish.
It is evident that strenuous work
is being done by certain interests to
control the market and hold prices
down to a basis corresponding to the
imapression sought to be made on the
public mind respecting the size of the
crop.
The censuss ginners’ report, which
wifi be issued Oct. 3. will show the
amount ginned to Sept, 25, comparing
with 2.353.713 last year. A bearish g In-
ners. report is expected, and if this
year’s figures exceed those of last year,
it would counteract. In a measure, the
effect of a bullish condition report.
