mailed registered letters concerning
the bill to both Patton and the city last
week.
Although the vehicle titles were
registered in the name of the city,
Patton claims he financed the cars
and they are his. On Feb. 25, 1960,
shortly after the impoundment.
Patton filed a $71,786.00 suit against
the city for Conversion of Motor
Vehicles. The suit has not yet been
resolved.
The storage bill was listed on the
council’s agenda for a meeting
scheduled Oct. 28. However, the ses-
sion was cancelled due to the fact that
a full quorum could not be gathered
that night. Absent were Mayor Larry
Green and Councilman E. Clayborn.
. Mackie gave so much of herself
to and for others She truly loved her
neighbor as herself but within the past
two years she began searching the
scriptures and seeking a closer walk
with the Lord. She had always loved
the beauty God had created and
longed to understand the great
mysteries of His kingdom but it was
during the past year that she met
Jesus as her personal Savior and
made Him Lord of her life. It was the
infilling of the Holy Spirit that gave
her life a new and beautiful meaning
and an assurance of a home in
heaven.

Mrs. L J. Smith was born June

to her friends she was “Mackie”. She
received her education at the College
of Industrial Arts (now Texas State
University for Women) where she

chairman of this group for many
years. There are many examples of
her art work displayed in the library
One of her friends who knows how
much she has .done for the library
remarked that she should be called
the “Mother of the Lita-ary”. She has
also been an active worker and officer
holder in the Geveland Woman’s
Club. Perhaps her greatest love was
our little church for which she drew
the original design and which she has
decorated so beautifully with her art
work. The Fellowship Hall has the 1
beautiful cornice board on which are
depicted all the religious symbols of
the church which she designed and
sewed in crewel stitchery. The picture
of the church which is also done in ■
