There is still time for a fall gar-
den. Plant as soon as possible.
Experienced gardeners warn that
we keep November 1 in mind as
the safe date from frost. Our av-
erage frost free date is November
15.
There is still time to plant
beets, broccoli, cabbage, carrots,
leaf lettuce, mustard, onions, Eng-
lish peas, radishes, spinach and'
turnips.
Plant the seed in a moist (not
wet), well-conditioned row and co-
ver immediately. Firm the soil
well. Mulching on top of the
planted row is desirable, espec-
ially if it turns dry and hot.
Fall-sown seed not only should
be planted deeper, but 20 to 25
per cent more seed should be used
for a given area than for spring
planting.
If you have tomato plants that
are still living — prune back mo
derately, cultivate and fertilize.
Ask at the Agricultural Exten-
sion Service office for bulletins
on Vegetable Gardening. It in
eludes a complete discussion oi^
Varieties as well as fertilizing and
cultivating suggestions are given
in this bulletin.

Steps are being taken to get a
wolf trapper into Cherokee Coun-
ty. John W. White of the Depart-
ment of Agriculture was in RusM
recently to discuss the large num-
ber of reports in the County. The
County must share expense of em-
ploying a trapper, and there is a
scarcity of trappers at the present
time. So it may be some time be-
fore one can be employed.
