"The erection of the All-Faith
Chapel would greatly aid the!
religious ministry to the men |
tally ill. It would symbolize¡
your care and concern,for the
patients. The building is de |
signed to care for the religious
needs of all faith, whether the
->atlents are Protestant, Catho-
lic, or Jewish. Attached to the
main building will be the Resi-
dent Chaplain's study, library,
and conference room, which
will be available to all. Plans
also include complete furnish-
ings, heating, and air-condition-
ing. This All-Faith Chapel
Building must be financed en-
tirely through voluntary con-
tributions from the general
public, and the entire cost must
be on deposit before construc-
tion can begin."
Of the approximately $50,000
needed to construct the Chapel,
some $5,000 has now been con-
tributed.
Mrs. McNutt, also a past pres-
ident of the Tyler club, has
served two years on the district
board of directors of the Wo-
men's Auxiliary to the Medical
Center Hospital there. She now
spends 15 or more hours per
week doing volunteer work at
Rusk State Hospital.
The Rusk State Hospital has
had the services of a full time
minister only since 1953, said
the speaker.
She also related to the Tues-
day night gathering, a state-
ment made by Rusk State Hos-
pital superintendent, Dr.
Charles W. Castner: "I endorse
the statements of Mrs. McNutt
with reference to the All-Faith
Chapel proposed at the Rusk
State Hospital by a fine Volun-
teer group of citizens who
deeply regard the spiritual in
the lives of our people, along
with the nursing care and med-
ical attention that is provided
I think one of the finest acts
on the part of citizens who will
volunteer to erect this build
ing will be reflected in the -
building as a memorial to their
devotion and will stand for a
long time as a reminder that
those who have trod this way
have left a guide-post along
life's highway."
Auxiliary members, follow-
ing Mrs. McNutts talk, pledged
through individual effort to
lend support to the Chapel
Fund.
The speaker announced that
any person could make a dona-
tion by simply mailing to "All
Faith Chapel Fund," 1200 S.
Wall St., Tyler, Texas.
The hostess served a buffet
supper to 19 members and
guests.
Attending from Rusk were
Mrs. James Kreimeyer, Auxil-
iary president; Mrs. W. E. Gab-
bert, Mrs. Roy Noble and Mrs.
Jack Woodward.

Volunteers
Needed For
TB Seal Work
This week the Cherokee
County Tuberculosis Association
will send out a special Call
for volunteers, appealing to
individuals and organizations to
contribute time to the Christ-
mas Seal Campaign, states P.!
O. Hately, Rusk Seal Sale chair-j
man.
"The assistance given by i
these generous friends of the
association saves dollars and
hours of staff time. These pre-¡
cious commodities are then putj
where they do the most good--
into activities that aim to wipe'
out TB.'
"Your Association has had
increased activity this year due'
to the ever increasing number
of tuberculor patients entering
the hospital, and assistance to
their families with X-rays and
other assistance. Christmas Seals
on your holiday mail will make
it feel like Christmas, and the
big job of getting the tradit-
ional Christmas Seal mailing
ready is done entirely with
volunteer help," Mr. Haiely
said.
Mr. Hately is a retired
school teacher, stockman and
active church and civic leader.
He led the town of Rusk in a
very successful drive in 1959,
and again volunteered his ser-
vice for this year's drive.
The largest testing program
ever undertaken in one group
was completed October 29 in
the Jacksonville School System
with over 3700 tests given to
pupils, teachers, cafeteria work-
ers, bus drivers and custodians.
Results of the test are not
yet complete but several re-
actors are being checked out
by doctors.
