FROM
THE
LIONS
OEM
BY: E. B. MUSICK, JR. I
John Bill Slover went to town
after something and has never
returned. Any one knowing his
whereabouts please let the
Lions Club know.
Lion Raymond Cooper went
to Arkansas recently to the
horse races and as you know
he is a dyed In the wool base,
ball fan. Being a beginner he
picked a 50 to 1 shot and put
$2 on the nose. Coming into
the stretch the long-shot was
neck and neck with the favor-
ite. As they neared the wire
in a photo finish. Lion Cooper
hollored, '«llde, you bum, sl-
ldel" See you Thursday.
SHOP IN RUSK
It seems that the Rodeo was
a success to the extent the two
fellow Lions that handled the
money left town and were gone
several days. Seems that Lion
Leinback left with the conces-
sion money and Lion Pledger
't with the gate receipts,
rom all accounts Lion Lein-
back and the most money be-
cause he stayed gone longer
than Lion Pledger. Just talked
with Lion President Barton
and he stated that everybody
that had anythingtodowith the
money had left town so it looks
like Lion Bill Parrott Is going
to be real busy taking care of
the cases to be filed against
these Lions. We have three
attorneys in the Lions Club so
it is thought that Lions Cox,
Nichols and von Doenhoff will
will be employed to represent
the Club. Should be interest-
ing with the Court Room filled
each day. Could be the Lions
might be able tosellconcess-
ions to get some ofthls money
back. Lion Frank Howell re-
ports a very successful mem-
bersh ip drive for the Rusk Ch -
amber of Commerce; it is still
in progress and if you have not
been contacted please let it be
known that you would like to be
a member. The Chamber is
going great and has just secu-
red another industrial plant
for us. They need your supp-
ort to continue this good work.
Lion Dr. Gabbert drove up to
a house the otherdaytodeliv.
er the family's 7th baby and
almost ran over a duck. "Is
that your duck out there ?"as-
ked Dr. Gabbert. "It's ours,
but it ain't no duck; It's a st-
ork with his legs worn down."
