Lion Charles Bivln pre-
sented L ion W, D. Draper
as our speaker last week.
Lion Bill brought us up to
date on the Improved methods
used at the State Hospital
and many of the things that
are still needed. The salary
increase will be going into
effect right away and that
should be of great help to
the employees and in turn
will help the business men
of our area. One of the great-
est needs is a clinic for the
State Hospital. Lion Bill stat-
ed that the Rusk Hospital
was the first to ask for this
and it seems that it will tie
the last to receive. A really
good program, but so few to
hear It. Our attendance com-
mittee needs to go to work.
It seems that some of the
Lions are in a real stew re-
garding the letter they re-
ceived last week. For those
of you who do not read your
mail, the Board of Directors
passed an order that beginning
1st September the cost of
meals will be added in with
the dues and are to be paid
in advance. We know that
this will not be very popular
with some, but you should
stop and give it a little
thought and investigate be-
fore being so critical. For in-
stance in talking with a mem-
ber of the Kiwanis Club the
other day it was stated that
this was the best thing that
had ever happened to that
club. They have had thi« plan
for about a year. There are
some sixty clubs in our dis-
trict and there are only two
clubs that do not have this
plan and Rusk is one of them.
Ever District Governor for
the last number of years has
encouraged this plan - that
it has helped every Lions
Club that has it. Surely ev-
erybody can't be wrong. So
stop and think before popping
off too much. Also if this will
The Cherokee Wildlife As-
sociation's annual member-
ship meeting was held on
August 10, at 7&0 p.m. in
the County Court Room, Rusk.
A brief summary of the past
year's achievements was giv-
en. Other business on hand
was taken care of, part of
which was the election of
5 directors, W. T. Rogers,
Lewis Thomas and Glen Do-
miny of Alto, John B. Slo-

work a hardship on you the
Board of Directors has ask
that you let them know and
let them review your par-
ticular case. What could be
fairer?
Lion Jack Fitts and family
have been on a vacation to
Washington D.C. While there
they toured the Capital and
were being shown the different
rooms and told what was tak-
ing place In each of them.
They passed a big door with
rest rooms printed on it.
Lion Jack was heard to say
that he believed this was the
only room in the Capital where
those in the room really knew
what they were there for.
See you Thursday night at
6¡30 at the Rusk Hotel.
Upon completion of all bust,
ness at hand the annual mem-
bership meeting adjourned.
A Board of Directors meet-
ing was immediately called
for the purpose of electing
a President, Vice-President
and Secretary - Treasurer.
Jack R. Stone of Wells was
re-elected President, W. D.
(Bill) Draper of Rusk was
re-elected Vice President and
A. R. Bice of Alto was re-
elected Secretary - Treasur-
er, Some of the problems
were discussed and we feel
we have the solutions to at
least part of them.
The annual membership
drive is now on and if you
are not a member or if you
haven't paid your dues for the
