The coffeehouses at The Re-

tory and the Journal of Negro His-
tory. He established Negro His-
tory Week.
After years of study, Woodson
gathered a wealth of information
Coming up this week, another great film in the SAC Film Series; RED
SUN. Filmed on location in and around Madrid, directed by Terence
Young and starring Charles Bronson, Ursula Andress, Toshiro Mifune
and Alain Delon, RED SUN may very well qualify as the first Spanish-
British- American-French-Japanese-S wiss Western.
The story concerns a pair of crooks (Bronson and Delon — a French
gambler from New Orleans) who fall out over the spoils of a train rob-
bery — spoils that happen to include a gold-ornamented ceremonial
sword, a gift being carried to the President of the United States by the
new ambassador from Japan and his trusty samurai (Toshiro Mifune).
Delon escapes with the goods, Bronson and Mifune give pursuit, picking
up Delon’s no-good girlfriend (Ursula Andress) as a kind of attractive
menace along the way.
Also along the way, Bronson and Mifune move from enmity to
friendship, save the lives of each other, save even Ursula Andress, and,
along with Delon, in the best sequence of all, engage in an extremely
tense and suspenseful shoot-em-up Indian attack among high weeds.
So that’s it this week: the world’s first and, to my knowledge, only
Samurai Western, here on St. Edward’s campus. That’s 8:30 p.m., for 25
cents, at God-Knows-Where, look on the posters for the place.
It’s really hard to believe that
the month of September is almost
over, it went by so incredibly fast.
I’m sure by now that all of you
have probably had at least one
hard exam and have been fully in-
itiated into the fall semester. With
all the things going on here at The
ReUnion I know I now feel fully
initiated into the life that is St.
Ed’s, and I’m looking forward to
more.

which would facilitate his creation
of an organization devoted to the
study of the Negro American. Car-
ter Woodson’s career was high-
lighted by many triumphs, but his
prime achievement was the exten-
sive record of black accom-
plishments which he brought to
light.

The kitchen at The ReUnion is
about doubled and almost tripled
its business this fall. I think the
reason is that our kitchen staff has
done an excellent job in preparing
the food and are making hambur-
gers that rival my grandmother’s
(and she makes them good). We
are also going to initiate a
luncheon special each week at the
noon hour. Last week it was
spaghetti, and with the feedback
we got, it will be served again
soon.

Just one more favor. Would
everyone try to put their own trash
1 away instead of leaving it on the
tables. It would help us out tre-
mendously and would also im-
prove the appearance of the Re-
Union. All of our snack bar atten-
dants and janitors will dance at
your wedding if you do. Once
again thanks a lot and I hope that
October becomes a much better
and cooler month than September.

Many of you have com-
plimented us for our new redwood
tables, and we appreciate all of
your likings, but I would like to ask
everyone to be a bit careful with
them. Because they are redwood,
the tops are softer than many other
pieces of wood and they dent and
imprint easily. So whenever you
are sitting at one, please be careful
not to put any undo pressure on
the wood. This way they’ll last a
lot longer. Thanks a lot.
