received certificates in
graduation exercises for
the Rusk Mini-A-Cat-A-Me
at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 22
in the First United
Methodist Church
Fellowship Hall.
"Diplomas" for completion
of the academic year were
given to youngsters in the
Toddler House, Nursery
School, Pre-School and
Kindergarten classes.
Mrs. Dorothy Wade led
the classes in musical
exercises which the
children had learned
during the academic year.
Mrs. Penny Bell, director
of the Mini-A-Cat-A-Me,
served as emcee for the
program. Certificates were
presented by Mrs. Wade,
Mrs Lois Huckabay and
Mrs. Annette Rogers.
Completing the Toddler
House program were
Stephanie Allen, Stephen
Allen, David Mitchell
Ballew. Tabitha Ann Bell,
Dustin Ryan Hill, Christina
Huckabay and Jeana Kay
Roach. Nursery School
graduates were Michael

The Rusk Rotary Club
met May 21 at the Petticoat
Junction and visitors were
Doyle Corley. Robert Per-
ry. Bill Tomlin and Lloyd
EJearden. all of the Jack-
sonville Rotary Club.
Will Cumbee was pre-
sented by Paul Achter who
was program chairman.
Cumby talked about the
Tourism Committee of the
Rusk Chamber of Com-
merce and some of the
history of the Catholic
Church which has been
moved lo th«. Ru«k City
Park.

A crowd of 125 parents,
relatives and friends
attended the ceremony.
Refreshments of cokies,
refreshments of cookies,
punch and coffee were
served afterward.
This first annual
commencement of the
Rusk Mini-A-Cat-A-Me
marked the end of the
academic year. Summer
activities began this week
for children through age 13.
Among activities planned
this summer are "water
fun" events each Tuesday
and Thursday and field
trips to Buckner Park, Jim
Hogg Park, the state park
at Weches and Rusk City
Park, a tour of the Texas
State Railroad Depot, trip
to Lufkin Zoo and the local
fire station.
Children of the Mini-A-
Cat-A-Me will ride on a
float which they are
preparing for the parade
Thursday in Rusk. The
facility is licensed to care
for 55 children from birth to
13 years of age.
