order to visit with their
daughter Bobbie Lou
Woodrell and her family.

Friends were saddened
by the death of former
Rusk resident, Mrs.
Pauline King Atkinson in
Corpus Christi on Tuesday,
December 15.
Christmas was
celebrated in the A. A.
Burchfield home Decem-
ber 18 and 19 with 29
present. All the Burch-
field's children, their
spouses and children, in-
cluding one great-
grandchild to Mr. and Mrs.
Burchfield, came from
Houston and Nacogdoches
to be with their parents.
Celesta Shaughnessy and
her daughter Meaghan of
Houston are guests in the
home of Celesta's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Charley
Christopher from Sunday,
December 19 through
Thursday, December 24.
The annual family
Christmas reunion was
held in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Raymond Cooper on
December 18. Twenty-five
guests were present from
the families of Mrs. Chuck
Darrow, Mrs. Bud Gould
and Mrs. Kathy Rogers,
daughters of Mr. and Mrs.
Cooper.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Copeland and children
Melanie, Ricky and family,
and Patricia and family
travelled to Salem to visit
with Mrs. Copeland's
parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Alexander.
Mrs. Arlis Corley is
recuperating at home
following a month stay in
Nan Travis Hospital.

on Sunday, Dec. 19 were
Mrs. Evie Corley of Sacul,
Cheeba McCarley and her
son Max of Nacogdoches
and Gladys and Bill
Losgren of Pflugerville. On
Friday, Dec. 17 the
Corley's children came
home from various univer-
sities for Christmas; Betty
Corley attends A&M at
College Station, Tommy,
Gary and Keith are atten-
ding Stephen F. Austin
State University at
Nacogdoches.

Sunday, Dec. 20, was a
very happy day for Mrs.
Lynn Banks. She had early
Christmas with all of her
children and grandchildren
being present for a dinner
at New Southern Motel.

changed. It was so wonder-
ful for all to be together at
one time and place, Mrs.
Banks says.

Visits Family
In Rusk
Hayne Middleton of West
Pittsburg, Calif., has
returned home after a visit
with his family here.
He arrived at the Austin
Airport Dec. 10 and was
met by his mother, Mrs.
Vera Middleton; brother
Bill, his wife Betty and
their sons, Clay and Glen.
From there, they
traveled to McAUen to see
Hayne's son, Mitchell, play
in the Palm Bowl. He was a
member of the Cal-Davis
team which played South-
west Texas State.
The visitor returned to
California Sunday, flying
from DKW

the home of his mother-in-

guests in the home of Mr.

from Sunday through
Wednesday, Dec. 19-23.
Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kinsel
were accompanied by their
daughter, Elizabeth
Birkelbach of Tyler, and
granddaughter Miss
Melanie Kinsel of
Whitehouse, to Houston
where they were guests of
the Jerry Kinsel family.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas
Wallace and Cordia Mae
Landrum attended church
services at the Lynches
Chapel Methodist Church.
There were 30 people who
received a blessing from
the Rev. Calvin Dickey and
wife Leona, who have been
so faithful to this very
small church. He came
when there were only three
or four members and now
looks from his pulpit to see
the few have grown to 30.
Mr. and Mrs. Billy Willis,
Administrators of Town
Hall Estates Nursing
Home, enjoyed attending
the Town Hall annual Mid-
Winter Board meeting last
week. The meeting, Dec.
13-17, was held during a
cruise on the U.S.S. Prin-
cess with ports of call in-
cluding Nassau.
Mrs. Wanda Weldon of
Box Springs visited in the
home of Mrs. Audrey Sim-
mons this weekend.
