tions of the state is about over
but there are jobs in the orchard
that shouldn’t be neglected. Ac-
cording to John Hutchison, Exten-
sion Horticulturist of Texas A&M
College, now is the time to check
each for San Jose scale.
This tiny sucking insect often
spreads throughout the orchard
during the late summer and early
fall. It may be carried from tree
to tree by the wind, on the feet
of birds or the insects may move
about on their own. It soon be-
comes established and may do

three gallons of water. The solu-
tion should be applied to the
trunk and framework branches of
the tree and he adds, an old paint
brush makes a good applicator.
He cautions against allowing the
solution to come in contact with
the foliage because it will burn
the leaves.
This is only a stop-gap remedy
but will help hold the insects in
them. Supplies of such seed in
many areas are short.

erty Taxpaying Voters of the
City of Canton, Texas:
Take notice that on the 25th
day of September, 1951, the City
Council of the City of Canton,
Texas, at the regular meeting
place thereof in the City Hall,
will pass and adopt an ordinance
authorizing the issuance of the
coupon bonds of said City in the
principal sum of SEVENTEEN
THOUSAND DOLLARS ($17,-
(XX)), for the purpose of refund-
ing, cancelling and in lieu of an
equal amount of indebtedness of
said City represented by “City of
Canton, Texas, Waterworks Im-
provement Warrants,” dated July
20, 1951, bearing interest at the
rate of 4 per cent per annum, and
aggregating $17,000.
FURTHER TAKE NOTICE
that the proposed refunding bonds
shall bear interest at the rate of
THREE AND THREE-FOURTHS
PER CENTUM (3 314 per cent)
per annum, and shall mature seri-
ally over a period of years, the
maximum maturity date to be not
later than the 1st day of June,
1960.
AND FURTHER TAKE NO-
TICE that the warrants proposed
to lie refunded and cancelled by
the issuance of the proposed
bonds are fully described in that
certain resolution adopted by the
City Council of said City on the
20th day of July 1951, and which
resolution is recorded in Book 1,
page 90 of seq. of the Minutes of
said Council, and to which refer-
ence is here made for a more de-
tailed description of said warrants,
and such resolution is adopted by
reference in respect of the de-
scription of said warrants, and
