We realize that we have had
fun, and we also realize that per-
haps we have passed up some op-
portunities for making more of
ourselves. The one thing that we
might want to change if we had
it to do is that we might have
had a more serious outlook on
our studies. Often it seemed that
they had no bearing on our out-
side life or on our future, but now
we realize that everything we
have learned and done has be-
come a part of us.
So for you who stay, we say—
do all you can to make Canton
proud of you and to make Can-
ton a school you can all be proud
of. Study to learn, not to make a
grade. And most of all, have fun
while you learn something.

The Student Council can help

and thus have life.
When we compare the shortness
of the story of Jesus’ life as re-
corded in the gospels, with the
lengthy biographies of famous
men found on the shelves of every
library, we can well appreciate the
simplicity and directness with
which 'his story, the greatest ever
told, is written.
All unnecessary details are
eliminated. We have left the all-
important supreme revelation of
the Master as the Savior and Life-
Giver.
Paul’s injunction to the younger
man, found in Timothy I, concerns
sound thinking. If anyone had the
right to give such advice, it was
Paul whose whole life was an ex-
ample of the determining power
of belief
True belief goes beyond all in-
tellectual processes. It quickens
the emotions and touches the in-
ner man. It is not what a person
says, but in what he does that
makes up the man’s actual belief
Thus the real belief is not what
one professes, but what one lives
and does. If the professing Chris-
tian people had really believed
and practiced what they professed
to believe, our world would be
quite different today.
The question for each of us to
ponder is: “What do we believe
and what do our lives express?

CITIZENSHIP FILM
On Wednesday morning, No-
vember 12, Mr. Leroy Streetman,
a representative of East Texas
Products which is a plant food di-
vision of Swift and Company, pre-
sented a picture to the students
of CHS.
The title of this film was “The
Big Idea.” It presented very ef-
fectively the fact that America is
the greatest country in the world
today. This was done by having
a radio broadcaster carry a lady
communist through one of Swift
& Company’s plants. Here she
talked to the common worker and
saw how much higher the living
standards of the American work-
ers were than the standards of
the workers in the country from
whence she came. The lady was
very impressed by these condi-
ticns and wanted to stay in Amer-
ica; however, she was deported.
This was a very educational as
well as entertaining film.
