Hostess To Club
in Myrtle Springs
Members of the Myrtle Springs
Home Demonstration Club met April
1 at 2 p m. with Mrs. Fannie Corry
as hostess.
An Easter program was given by
Mrs. Corry who read ’he story of
the Crucifixion from John 18 and 19
The songs, "He Arose" and "Holy,
Holy, Holy,” were sung by the group
led by Mrs. Dorothy Woods. Mrs.
Frank Flowers led the prayer.
"Why My Grandchildren Like Me,”
was read by Mrs. Flowers.
My favorite salad and recipe was
the highlight of the program. Many
varieties of salads were brought and
served during the social hour, to
Mesdames Flowers. Frona Terry,
Woods, Nettie Childs, E. M. Sham-
burger and Mrs. Myrtle Mullins, a
visitor, and Miss Fannie Beard, who
became a new member of the club.
Next meeting will be with Miss
Beard May P at 2 p. m.

Visitors of Mrs. F. M. Tunnell and
Mr. and Mrs. Tobe Holcombe re-
cently were Marvin Holcomb and
family of Waco and Mrs. Mae Chap-
pell and Miss Paralee of Kaufman.
Mr and Mrs. H. E. Durell, Mrs
Eva Morris and Miss Fannie Beard
visited Mrs. Dovie Reed in a nursing
home at Ennis recently.
Mrs. Winnie Clements celebrated
her birthday March 30. All of her
children came and several other rel-
atives.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Fleeman gave
a fish dinner for 34 members from
the Canton Assembly of God Church
Friday night.
Those on the sick list this week
are Mrs. Winnie Clements, Mr. and
Mrs. H. E. .Durell and Tobe Hol-
comb. Mrs. Frank Flowers had a bed
fall at the Baptist Church in Canton
Sunday and received torn ligaments
in her chest and multiple bruises on
her shoulder and arm.
Mr. and Mrs. Jake Childs of Can-
ton were visitors Wednesday of Mrs.
Ira Eskue. Other visitors in the Es-
kue home were Mr. and Mrs. Buck
Butler and Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Es-
kue of Dallas Saturday.
Susan, John and Julie Kimbrew
of Dallas spent several days with
। Mrs. Earl McCaffity and their grand-
father, E. V. Kimbrew during the
Easter holidays. Mrs. Bobbie Kim-
brew visited them on Sunday.
Mrs. Eva Morris returned to Long-
view last week to visit her daughter,
Mrs. Clyde Shelton and family, and
to go on a chartered bus tour of the
; Hodge Flower Gardens at Many, La.

Members of the Canton Home
Demonstration Club met in the
home of Mrs. W. H. Oliver April 2
with Mrs. A. S. Brown, president,
presiding.
Roll call was answered by 17
members with "little things we are
thankful for.” Two visitors, Mrs.
Amy Gunter and Mrs. Mamie Mc-
Daniel, were present.
The district meeting will be held
in Tyler April 15 and the club has
made plans to visit the El Chico
•Corporation in .Dallas April 23.
According to J. S. Patterson, April
is clean-up month and members
were urged to participate on the
clear-up program.
Mrs. McDaniel presented the pro-
gram, showing many handmade
items and gave a demonstration on
making matchholders.
Mrs. Lloyd Chitty read a poem,
"Always Look for the Good in Oth-
ers,” and the meeting was closed.
