some 1.600 strong, will gather in
Dallas. July 30-Aug. 2. 1985 for the
Annual In-Service Education
Workshop and Meeting sponsored
by the Vocational Agriculture
Education Department of the Texas
Education Agency. Austin. Texas,
under the direction of Jay Eudy,
State Director. Vocational
Agriculture Education.
Attending the In-Service
Education Workshop from Rusk
will be Vocational Agriculture
teachers Reggie McCollum and
Steve Havis.
The First General Session will
begin at 9 a.m. on Wednesday. July
31st in the Amfac Hotel Enterprise
Ballroom. Appearing on the
program will be Lowell B. Catlett.
PhD. Associate Professor
Agriculture Economics and
Business. New Mexico State
University. National FFA Vice
President 1968-69; Dr. Paul Lin-
dsey. Associate Commissioner for
Occupational Education and
Technology of the Texas Education
Agency and Bill Clayton, former
Speaker of the House of Represen-
tatives. Clayton has been a leading
political figure in Texas for 20
years. Clayton currently is
President of Capital Consultants, a
political and business consulting
firm in Austin. Clayton has sizable
farming interests in Springlake.
On Wednesday and Thursday the
teachers will take part in Area
meetings and 12 In-Service
Education Workshops. Some of the
topics for discussion will be:
Professionalism/The Image We
Display, Public Relations; School
Boards and Administrators;
Irrigation Water Efficiency;
Teaching and Testing the Essential
Elements; Farm Business
Management; Essentials of a 12
Month Program; and Stress
Management/Time Management.
The second and last General
Session will begin at 8:30 a.m. on
Friday. August 2. Appearing on the
program will be Bob Murphey. At-
torney at Law. motivational and
humorous speaker. His subject is
"The Power of Positive Thinking."
State Agriculture leaders will be
visiting at the conference
throughout the week.
A membership meeting for the
VATAT will be held on Thursday.
Aug. 1 at 6:30 p.m in the ballroom
of the Amfac Hotel. Terry Phillips.
Association President, will conduct
the meeting On Friday. Aug. 2. the
teachers will meet in area meetings
and plan their in-service education
meeting for the 1985-86 school year.
Activities and entertainment are
also planned throughout the four-
day meeting for the spouses who
will be attending the meeting.
Many people find that mayonnaise
