“Understanding and
“influential” are words that
can be used to describe Mrs.
Loyd Taylor. She is a very
sweet and likeable person,
that is quite popular among
the Canton high school girls.
Many of the girls think of her
as a “second mother,”
because she is so helpful in
every way. The girls are able
to go to her with any problem
and she helps them to find a
T
linoleum on part
building. Each
working with them. She also
finds pleasure in fishing. Mrs.
Taylor also collects
glassware. Each piece is of
some sentimental value.
Her goal in life is “To do the
best I can.”
Her advice to a young
homemaker is “Don’t say I
can’t, say I’ll try.”
One of Mrs Taylor’s
favorite recipes is Pineapple
Pie. She has chosen this to
share with others.
Pineapple Pie
2/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons flour
1 stick margarine (melted)
1 big can crushed pineapple
2 piecrust shells
Mix the sugar, flour,
margarine, and pineapple
together. Pour into a pie shell
and place the other shell on
top. Press the edges together.
Brush the top crust with milk,
and prick with a fork. Bake in
solution.
Mrs. Taylor graduated
from Canton and received her
Bachelor in Science Degree
from North Texas State
University and her Masters
Degree from East Texas
State University. She began
her teaching career in the
eighth grade at Canton and is
now teaching homemaking.
She and Mr. Taylor are
members of the First United
Methodist Church in Canton.
Mrs. Taylor manages to
keep herself busy after school
hours with her many hobbies,
such as decoupage, celluclay,
gold leafing, tole painting,
and hobby art. She a Iso. enjoys
a craft called scrumbling
which is painting miniature
pictures. Of course, Mrs.
Taylor must enjoy cooking
and sewing or she wouldn’t
still be teaching the girls. One
might also say she has a
green thumb, for she loves
house plants and enjoys
