able for anyone to read at City Hall.
After the amendment passed and
was entered in the City Charter, the
City then started accepting donations
for the De Leon Cemetery Care Fund.
The City has been, and will continue
to be, the guardian of this fund until it
has reached the required amount.
Then, the interest on the principal can
be used only for maintaining the cem-
etery.
All donations have been invested
in Certificates of Deposit at a local
bank. To date, only half of the sum
needed has been donated to insure a
well-maintained cemetery for years.
Interest from the C.D.’ s reverts to the
principal. Also, the City donates half
of the sale of all lots to this fund; all
other funds in this account will have
to be by donation or gifts.
Any donations or annual pledges,
large or small, will be appreciated by
the City and Cemetery Association.
