New readers of the 3-year-old Colony
Courier have an opportunity in this
column to glance back a few years and
see what was happening in the area “in
yesteryear.”
Items in the column come from the
news files of the Courier and the old
Little Elm Tide that began covering the
Colony before the first families moved
into the city’s Fox & Jacobs homes
late in 1974.
FIVE YEARS AGO
Little Elm Mayor Harold Price and City
Planner Jim Terral attended a session of the
Collin-Denton Small Cities Association in Celina.
FOUR YEARS AGO
The Colony Fire Funders voted to disband.
Harold Price resigned as Little Elm mayor

Safety Tip: Aerosol lubricant
keeps wheels from sticking.
Experts offer these tips
to avoid accidents and enjoy
safe skating:
• Keep your weight
directly over your skates
with knees slightly bent to
absorb jolts.
• Safety begins with car-
ing for equipment; use an
aerosol lubricant on wheel
bearings so they won’t stick.
• Boot skates offer the
best support, and they can’t
fall off like the clamp-on’s.
• Beginners . should wear
knee pads, elbow guards...
even gloves. And parents
should Carry antiseptic spray
for minor cuts and scrapes.
• As you skate, shift your
weight evenly from foot-to-
foot. To avoid foot sores
and blisters wear cotton
socks and spray on a foot
powder.
