The C. H. 8. Literary Society held
s regular meeting Wednesday evening
at 4 o’clock. This is a new soeiety, or-
ganized entirely by the girls of the
school, with a limited membership of
twenty. The society meets every

debates and discuss topics of general

For the meeting yesterday a spe-
rial program had been arranged by
Miss Waldeon Smith. The main part
of the program waa a debate on the
queation, '.'Resolved that it to better
to have loved-and lost than never to
have loved et all.’’ The debate proved
very interesting as the speakers of
both aides showed that they were tal
miliar with the subject. For this de-
bate outsiders were invited to preside:
Talmage Peyton, president of the
Boys Debating Society, had charge of
the meeting and John Williamson,
Randoplh Coney and Pennington Jaek-
eon, of -the Boye Society were the
judges. The speakers for the debate
were the following young ladies:.
