holding strategic meetings “to look

and addressing issues to be looked

“move forward and broaden what
they do,”.
Also, the university would “be
consistent with a more external
marketing focus,” according to a
proposal by the group. In other

The plan is a strategic one pro-
posed in January of this year by the
ten-member Planning Group,
composed of faculty members and
internships. “We want to take this
liberal arts grounding successfully
to a profession,” Kinsey said.

Introducing AT&T
Student Saver Plus.
This year it’ll be easier
to get through college.
Because AT&T has put
together a program of
products and services
into the Austin community and the
state. The proposal of Advisory
Boards partially comprising of
community members would allow
for just such outreach and net-
working.
Concerned students need not
worry about being excluded in the
planning since they are encouraged
to express their opinions and sug-
gestions to faculty members during
the current planning phase.
By November 1, 1990 the dif-
ferent schools are expected to sub-
mit their respective strategic goals
to the Planning Group. The devel-
opment of this strategy will be a
gradual process. Current SEU stu-
dents will likely “feel the increased
enthusiasm about the possibilities,”
enhancing “a kind of atmosphere
that’s really student focussed,”
Kinsey said.

SEU’s five academic divisions
made some changes over the
summer including a name change
for the divisions and the chairper-
sons in charge. For one, they are no
longer called Divisions but Schools.
Second, the Schools are no longer
headed by Division Chairs but by
Deans. What does all this mean?
These are not just superficial name
changes. Instead, they signify “the
implementation of a larger plan, a
larger goal,” which will ultimately
“continue to improve the already
excellent educational opportunities
for students,” explained Marcia
Kinsey, Dean of the School of Hu-
manities.
