I Hunters Caught With
Hand In Cookie Jar
JEFFERSON (Spl.) — One of
the least desirable places to kill
a deer, especially out of season,
is in a game warden’s front yard.
Game Warden Bill Belote, who
lives just out of Jefferson on high-
way 69, rounded up two defen-
dants from Texas and one from
Louisiana only minutes after the
act.
Fines were assessed in county
court in Marion County, and the
defendant’s right to hunt with a
gun in the state was forfeited.
The deer? It became property
of the state, and was still in the
front yard waiting for the war-
den when he returned from court.
