Rusk band boosters elect officers for 1999-2000
The Rusk Band Booster met for
the month of May at which time
the 1999-2000 officers were
elected. Band booster members
elected were: Rhonda Dover, presi-
dent; Ann York, vice-president;
Carol Billiard, treasurer; Lanette
Cox, secretary/reporter; and
Debbie Struhall, concession officer.
Other business included prepa-
rations for the annual band ban-
quet and two upcoming fund-rais-
ers. A garage sale will be held on
the first weekend of June at the
home of Ann and Steve York on
Crockett St. If you have items to
donate to the sale, contact the
York's at 683-7550.
The band booster will also be
selling funnel cakes at the Fair on
the Square. Anyone interested in
participating in this activity, call
Kathy Michaels at 409-369-4331.
Anyone willing to work in the
concession stand (visitor's side) for
the 1999 football season can call
Debbie Struhall at 683-5826. All
proceeds support Rusk band ac-
tivities.
If you would like to join and
actively participate in this organi-
zation, please call Rhonda Dover
at 683-5999. Meetings are held
the first Tuesday of every school
calendar month at 7 p.m. in the
Rusk High School band hall.

Lanette Cox, Carol Dilliard, Debbie
Struhall, Kathy Michaels and Fran
Birmingham for their hard work
and dedication to this organiza-
tion and their ongoing support for
the Rusk band programs.
Two Alto High School students brought medals back home from
the State UIL Academic Meet In Austin recently. Sophomore Anna
Mason won sixth place in Feature Writing, and Junior Angle
Bobbitt placed third in News Writing.
Alto 1st Baptist plans
Vacation Bible School
First Baptist Church of Alto has
extended an invitation to all area
children to attend a castle adven-
ture set in merry old England.
"We have an exciting summer
program planned for the children
in our community," said the Rev.
Bruce Mitchell, pastor.
"This summer we will trans-
form the church injto SonCastle
Faire, where children will dis-
cover the joy of using their talents
to serve the King of kings. We will
feature lively songs, skits, crafts,
games, Bible studies and snacks,
all of the things that make Vaca-
tion Bible School so popular with
children and their parents," Rev.
Mitchell said. In addition, he adds,
"We will help kids discover their
unique abilities and learn how to
use them to serve God and others."
The SonCastle Faire Vacation
Bible School begins June 6 and
continue through June 11. Ses-
sions are from 6-9 p.m. at the Alto
First Baptist Church.
