Blood bank makes drastic appeal to East Texans
Stewart Regional Blood
Center (SRBC) is continuing
to celebrate 50 years of saving
lives in East Texas during July
4 holiday. Lately, SRBC has
been struggling to fulfill the
communities growing need for
blood. Therefore SRBC has
been forced to ask for outside
help. This is an opportunity
to "Show Your Independence"
this July 4 by donating blood
and saving the life of a fellow
East Texan, spokespersons
said. There is a critical supply
of A-, B-, B+, AB-, AB+, O- and
0+. A+ blood is low but not
critical. Critical blood supply
is where there is less than one
day's blood supply. Low is
where there is one or two days
of blood supply. Good supply is
two or three days supply.
Blood may be donated Friday
and Saturday at Broadway
Square Mall in Tyler from 11
a.m. until 6 p.m. Also from
10 a.m. until 4 p.m. Friday

Also, blood may be donated at
the Cherokee County Sheriff's
office for 10:30 a.m. to 5:30
p.m. July 9. Those wishing to
donate in Charles Cornelius'
name may do so.
Stewart Regional Blood
Center has announce that over
the past 50 years more than a
million lives have been saved
or enhanced by the million
pints of blood donated by East
Texans. Everyone that has
donated blood during the past
50 years should know that he
or she helped save a life.
"We as East Texans should
take pride in helping save a
neighbor, friend or stranger's
life, because someday you
may need blood and hope that
someone is there for you,"
says Renay Moore, Director of
Donor 8: Community Services.
"Some patients it only takes
one pint of blood to make a
difference and others it takes
more than a 100 pints of
blood to save their life," added
Moore.
Stewart Regional Blood
Center is still celebration
its 50th Anniversary until
Thursday, July 5 with a "Raffle
for Life." Cavender's Boot City,
area Wal-Marts, and Alltel

be given away to donors. Also

drive or to one of the centers
will receive a special 50 year
anniversary t-shirt.
