GOOD SAMARITAN
New president is elected
By Betty Townsend
Special to Cherokeean Herald
New officers for the organization were
elected at the January board meeting.
Kay Hunter Epperson, who has served as
president for the past two years, stepped
down and B.J. Nicholson waselected. Mrs.
Epperson was a very capable leader, much
appreciated by all the volunteers as she
worked with tireless enthusiasm. She will
continue to serve as a volunteer.
Mr. Nicholson is a very faithful
member of the organization, spending
much more time at the center than his
regular scheduled hours. He is familiar
with the management of Good Samaritan
and will be an excellent leader.
The organization is sponsored by
Rusk Ministerial Alliance, operated for
the sole purpose of assisting those in
the community who are in need of food
and clothing.
During the past year 3,365 adults and
3,218 children were helped, including
109 new applicants. Clients are eligible
to receive food one time each month.
New volunteers are always welcome.
If interested in participating in this very
important service of helping other people
call Jo Abernathy at903-683-4702 and get
your name on the schedule.
As the saying goes, "When you feed a
hungry person, you feel full. When you help
clothe a person, you feel warm."
