Immediately after the investiture
by Mr. LeTourneau, greetings were
extended to Dr. Tyler and LeTour-
neau College by three outstanding
educators of this area: Dr. Clyde Nail,
vice president of San Antonio College
and president of the Texas Junior
College Association; Dr. Cruce Stark,
president of Kilgore College in Kil-
gore, Texas; and Dr. John D. Mosley,
president of Austin College in Sher-

Association of Texas Colleges and
Universities.
After James Roads, retiring presi-
dent of the Student Council, present-
ed the gavel to incoming president
Melvin Bell, the graduates were pre-
sented their diplomas. The presen-
tation of diplomas to the graduating
class of 1961, was the first official
act of the new president, Dr. Tyler.
So it is that R. G. LeTourneau,
Chairman of the Board of Trustees of
LeTourneau College, has invested
Dr. Allen C. Tyler, a fine Christian
gentleman, with all the rights, privi-
leges and responsibilities of the of-
fice of president.
New Gate Sign Erected
As part of the ten-year program of
advancement for LeTourneau Col-
lege, and as a sign of change, the
school has just erected a new gate
sign. While the sign is striking in ap-
pearance and noticeable immediately,
it is not flashy and does not detract
in any way from the dignity which
an institution such as LeTourneau
College must maintain. The color
scheme matches the school colors -
blue and gold. The dark blue back-
ground sets off the gold lettering.
The sign itself is readily seen from
the street, the top of it is 15 feet off
the ground and it is 17 feet long.
