MESSAGES
True Greatness
He that humbleth himselfshall be exalted"
Luke 18:14
Man would be great.
E'er since that boastful Lucifer
Aspired to exalt his throne
Above the stars of God,
Vain man would fain exalt his will,
Parade his wealth and power and skill
That others might applaud.
Our Lord is great!
The very stars by Him were made,
And earth's foundations by Him laid,
His riches were untofd;
Yet He - the Great One - humbly came
To Bethlehem, and Calvary's shame
To thus His love unfold.
Who would be great
Must learn the truth our Savior taught:
Through humbleness is greatness wrought
The Lord abhors our pride;
So, as He gave Himself, may we
Serve others with humility
And follow our great Guide!

Priority Goals!
A man living in San Francisco has built up a
large business as a "Time planning and Life
Goals Consultant." He spends his full time
helping people make more satisfactory use of
their time. He has an office in New York as
well as in San Francisco.
He works on the principle of helping folks
pick priority goals and avoiding much of the
trivia. He devised a system of doing the impor-
tant things "Now." He also emphasizes the en-
joyment of what we are doing. His program for
time management has worked for 15,000
business men, professionals, home makers and
students!
How often we lose out in our activities
because we fail to give priority to the necessary
tasks. Time passes and we are frustrated
because of that which has not been ac-
complished.
One day when Christ was on earth, He asked
a very pertinent question of two of his
followers. It was: "What seek ye?" In other
words: "What do you want?" He is interested in
the personal desires of every one of us. He is a
marvelous Consultant!
He invited these men to His dwelling and
after abiding with Him that day, their lives were
changed and their hearts were won to Him
forever. He still invites us to come to Him andHe will gladly be our "Counsellor." As we
allow Him by His Spirit and the Word to select
out priorities and guide our activities, we will
have the energy to do the important jobs "now"
and there will be joy in the accomplishment of
them!
Many of us have heard of Mr. R. G.
LeTourneau's life verse. It was: "Seek ye first
the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and
all these things shall be added unto you"
(Matthew 6:33). He truly sought the guidance
of the Lord in his priorities and he was a happy
man in so doing.
He proved the truth of Psalm 145:19, "He
(the Lord) will fulfill the desires of them that
fear Him." What are our life goals?
TO SEE GOD
We should see God in creation. The
Psalmist, in the 19th Psalm said that crea-
tion declares the glory of God. Pity the
man, however, who does not get beyond
that view.
A Life Giving Look
The life giving revelation of God is seen
only in his Son, The Lord Jesus Christ.Caution - Under Pressure
In our cupboards these days we have quite a
number of spray cans for all sorts of uses -
such as insect repellents, rug cleaners, oven
cleaners, dust offs, hair spray and many other
uses. On practically all of these cans we find the
words: "Caution - Under Pressure".
As we noticed those words, we thought how
timely they are - especially for this season of
the year. Is it not true that because of the many
yule-tide festivities and other activities, such as
programs, parties, exchanging of gifts, etc., we
are apt to find ourselves under strain and
somewhat depressed from overwork and
various other pressures?
We feel that in many instances we have
almost forgotten the object of our celebrations,
which is the acknowledgment of the birth of
Jesus Christ in Bethlehem many years ago. We
often forget that when the angel announced His
birth, he said: "Behold, I bring you good tidings
of great joy."
The birth of Jesus Christ was actually, "God
manifest in the flesh" (I Timothy 3:16). The
Lord Jesus who is God came in flesh to reveal
to the world the love of the Father for us! And
He revealed His own love to us by yielding
Himself to the cruel death of the Cross that He
might atone for our sins and receive us into the
family of God if we will but acknowledge Him
as Savior and Lord.
Surely we should not put so much emphasis
on worldly activities that we allow ourselves to
get under pressures to the extent that we fail to
realize the great joy that we should experience
because Christ came to earth to redeem us! The"Behold NOW is the accepted time; behold, NOW is the day of salvation." (iI Cor. 6:2)
PERFECT PEACE
I cannot tell what may befall,
I know not, but God knoweth all;
His love will give me what is best,
He lives - He loves - Ah! that is rest.
OMNIPRESENT
He was just a little lad, and on a
Sabbath day was wandering home from
Sunday school, and dawdling on his way.
He scuffed his shoes into the grass; he
found a caterpillar; he found a fluffy
milkweed pod and blew out all the "filler."
A bird's nest in the tree o'erhead, so wisely
placed and high, was just another wonder
that caught his eager eye.
A neighbor watched his zig-zag course
and hailed him from the lawn, asked him
where he had been that day and what was
going on.
"Oh, I've been to Sunday school." (He
carefully turned the sod and found a snail
beneath it.) "I've learned a lot of God."
"M'm, a very fine way," the neighbor
said, "for a boy to spend his time. If you'll
tell me where God is, I'll give you a brand
new dime."
Quick as a flash his answer came, nor
were his accents faint. "I'll give you a
dollar, Mister, if you'll tell me where God
ain't."
