Robert Park was elected chief
of the Sealy Volunteer Fire
Department, succeeding C. D.
(Buddy) Krampitz. who retired
from that position. He had
been chief for ten years.
Elton Emshoff was elected
first assistant chief, replacing
Robert Park, and George
Pavlicek became second assist-
ant chief, succeeding Elton
Emshoff. Other officers are
Charles Abel, secretary, and
Billy Schavrda. treasurer, who
replaces Harold Hradil. How-
ard Bear replaces Harold
Hradil as a three year trustee
on the pension committee.
Charles Abel will remain on the
committee for one more year
and Billy Schavrda will serve
for two more years.
Clarence Mersmann was
voted in as a new member of
the department.
Robert Park accepted the fire chief’s

Park was elected chief of the Sealy

the Garden Club of Sealy, as
announced by Mrs. Billie
Preibisch, club president. In

that President Caner is placing
on employment and training
for the nations unemployed and
underemployed.
Title V I of CETA allows
local government to undertake
special projects to provide
needed public services beyond
their usual functions. This
project will last 12 months.
Women are being considered
for these positions.
The following types of jobs
will be available in this project:
Laborers. Wages will be $3.15
per hour
All persons employed under
this program must be from low
income families, in addition
applicants must meet one of the
following requirements.
(a) Be unemployed 15 of the
last 20 weeks
(b) Have exhausted Unem-
ployment Insurance Benefits
(c) Be a member of a family
receiving AFDC (aid to families
with dependent children)

Dr. Virgil Gordon, a long
time medical doctor in the
Sealy community, passed away
at the Sealy Medical Center at
10:05 p.m. on January 13,
following an illness of three j
months. He attained the age of |
88 years.

Dr. Gordon was born in
Campbellsburg. Indiana Octo-
ber 15. 1889, son of the late Mr.
and Mrs. Thomas Gordon. He
was reared in Mitchell, Indiana
and attended public school
there. October 21, 1914, he was
joined in marriage with Miss
Josephine Mae Miller in
Indianapolis, Indiana. Having
been a doctor in the military
service, he came to Sealy in
1927 from an Indiana practice
following World War I and
served this area as a doctor of
medicine for fifty years.
Gordon was a member of
