Funeral for Éstelle Blount,
77, of Jacksonville, was at 10
a.m. Thursday at Autry Fu-
neral Home chapel with the
Rev. Ken McEachern officiat-
ing. Burial was in Besthaven
Memorial Park.
Mrs. Blount died Oct. 26.She
was born April 18, 1933, in
Conroe. She had been a mem-
ber of Beall Chapel Baptist
Church since 1956. She taught
women's Sunday school for 30
years and was church secretary
ESTELLE BLOUNT
for 15 years. She was grocery
clerk at Safeway/Appletree;,
Jacksonville for 25 years.
She was preceded in death
by her parents, Asa and Ethel
Slaughter: husband, Clay-
ton Blount; and two sisters.
Dorothy Walker and Mabel
Waggoner.
Survivors include a son, E.
C. Blount of Jacksonville: two
daughters, Leona Simmons
and Dell Huddleston, both of
Jacksonville: and a sister, Jo
Nan Heath of Jacksonville;
one grandson, Bén Blount of
Shreveport, La.: four grand-
daughters, Leanne Goodman,
Lucy Blount and Rebecca Sim-
mons, all of Jacksonville and
Suzanne Boles of Rockwall;
11 great-grandchildren, Jacob,
C.: J., Sarah, Hunter, Emory,
Taylor, Katlyn, Evan, Daniel,
Shelby and Rebecca.

Mrs. Stafford died Oct. 21.
She was born April 11, 1983,
in Lufkin.

Mr. Locke died Oct. 25. He
was born July 21, 1943, in
Jacksonville. Mr. Locke Served
in the United States Army, was
a Baptist anda railroadconduc-
tor. He was preceded in death
by his parents. Jack Locke and
FayeMcElroy Locke: grandson.
Funeral for Benny Ray Wof-
ford Sr., 75, of Athens, was
at 10 a.m. Friday at Central
Baptist Church in Athens with
the Rev. Mike Gibb s officiating.
Burial was at 3 p.m. at Grove
Hill Cemetery. Dallas.
Mr. Wofford died Oct, 26. He,
was born Oct. 17, 1935, in Dal-
las to Raymond F. and Sarah
Banks Wofford He married
Sharon Kay Reed July 3,1963,
in Mesquite:. He spent his last
16 years in the Athens area
after moving from Mesquite.
He was a retired pastor and
also worked as an insurance

Richard Coffey, 63, of Jackson-
ville, was at 2 p.m. Tuesday at
ResthavenMemorialParkwith
Rey, DanMiddleton officiating.
Mr. Coffey died Oct. 30. He was
born Feb. 9, 1947, in Midland.
Mr. Coffey was a Methodist.
He served in the United
States Air Force during the
Vietnam War.
He was an auto salesman
for 33 years working at sev-
eral dealer ships including King
Gerald R. Steed, 78, of Na-
cogdoches died Oct. 29 after
a short illness.
He is survived by his wife of
57 years, Lida Jo Steed and
his daughter and son-in-law,
Sarida and Bob Bradley of
San Antonio and a host of
nieces, nephews and close
relations.
Mr. Steed was born Nov.
30, 1931, in Crane and was
reared in Alto.
He played football and
was a graduate of Alto High
School.
Mr. Steed left East Texas
to begin a 22-year career
with the United States Air
Force-
He served in the Air Force
from the Korean War through
the Vietnam War, as well as
later years,
As a military policeman
he secured the flight lines
of Strategic Air Command
bases from Texas to Alaska
throughout the Cold War.
After retiring from the Air
Force he returned with his
family to East Texas where

The Ross SeniorActivity Center will
hold its monthly dance on Saturday,
Nov. 13, at the Rusk Civic Center,
555 Euclid St., Rusk. Doors will open
at 6 p.m., dancing starts at 6:30 p.m.
Admission is $5 per person and par-
ticipants are invited to bring snacks to
share. Non-alcoholic beverages will
be available for sale. Proceeds will
benefit the Friends of the Singletary
Memorial Library and the Ross Activ-
ity Center.
