The Church of Christ meets each
Lord’s Day at 10 a. m. for Bible
Study with communion following.
You are welcome to these services.
In his deep affliction Job blessed
the name of God. He had lost all his
wealth and was bereft of his sons;
he was afflicted with a torturing
malady. In his deep distress his wife
advised him to curse God and die
In such a condition desperation is
more inviting than faith and trust
yet Job said “Though he slay me
yet will I trust him”. Jonah was a
peevish sort of man and his religion
did not remove his fault. He want-
ed to map out his own course and
also dictate to God what he should
do. He had his own ideas about his
personal duty and about God’s duty;
he was one preacher who did not
want people to repent when they
heard him preach and if they did re-
pent he wanted God to punish them
anyway so his false notions got him
into all kinds of trouble with the
Lord and he learned the truth of
"Woe unto him that striveth with
his Maker”. All men aspire to the
highest attainments in their respec-
tive fields of activity, the desire to
excel in the things we do is com-
mendable, it was this desire of heart
that gave impulse and direction to
the whole current of Paul’s life. He
said “That I may know him, and the
power of his resurrection and the
fellowship of his sufferings, benig

ter. Life should be directed toward a McDade:
definite end and then persevering Sunday school at 10:00 o’clock
The pastor’s first word would be
one of thanks and deepest gratitude.
During his illness, which was not
critical but exceedingly painful, the
people in and out of his church were
so gracious in their kindness. Every-
thing that would help, or give com-
fort, they seemed to think of and
gladly did it. Such kindness hast-
'ens recovery, and makes suffering
easier to bear. We love them for
it. God bless their every heart.
Sunday morning the pastor will
preach on: “Peter And the -Angel.”
At seven-thirty in the evening we
are to have a great treat. The West
Austin Quartet will be with us. They
are splendid singers. Aside from
their special numbers, they will lead
the congregation in singing many of
our best and sweetest songs. You
do not want to miss this, for there
is a great treat in store for every-
one.
The pastor will bring a brief mes-
sage on: “Will Jesus Come Again?”
This should be of profound interest
to every child of God. Do you be-
lieve He is coming? Can you be a
child of God and not believe it?
Never, absolutely never. But if
you do believe it, what effect is it
having on your moral and spiritual
life When rightly understood, no-
thing is more helpful to the Chris-
tian life. It kept the early church
pure and active, and made its testi-
mony victorious in every land. What
is this teaching doing for you?
At 9:45 we want 100 in Sunday
school. Let each class set a goal for
attendance and go get them and it
will be easy to have 100 in Sunday
school next Sunday. Nothing would
put a bigger smile on the face of
our superintendent. It would make
him feel that his work is appreciated.
Then let us do this next Sunday and
