When the 31-year-old captain
left his base at LaGuardia Field
June 2 for a trans-Atlantic hop,
he thought it was “just another
supply mission,” Mrs. Karkalits
recalled.
The officer, son of K. D. Baker
of Elmira, N. T., has completed
55 round-trip hops, ferrying planes
and supplies, and returning wound-
ed to the States.
He is now on leave in New
York in the home of his father.

FARMERSVILLE, June 21. CP
Audie Murphy, who doesn’t look
that old, has celebrated his 21st
birthday.
Freckle-faced Audie is the first
lieutenant of infantry who won
every decoration in the book for
heroism in action in Italy and
Franee.
Home on furlough — and still
embarrassed by the bunting, the
speeches and the cheers which
greeted his arrival in Texas —
Audie observed his birthday
quietly.
The young hero, himself wound,
ed three times, visited Ashburn
General Hospital at McKinney to
visit other soldiers wounded in this
war.
The Texas orphan—his mother
is dead and no one knows where
his father is, won a conimissioh
and the Congressional Medal of
Honor among other decorations
for almost single-handedly stop-
ping and then routing 260 Ger-
mans and six tanks in France.

was in that committee that
tM latest conference “crisis” arose
when the Soviet Union reopened
the q u e s tion of the discussion
powers of the Assembly.
A few hours before Stettinius
announced the new closing date,
he revealed settlement of the
Assembly dispute in which Rus-
sia and Australia played the
principal rules and the United
States and Great Britain acted
as mediators.
The controversy involved the
rights of the Assembly to discuss
international matters. The. Aus-
tralians wanted unlimited rights
of discussion. The Russians want-
ed discussion limited to matters
pertaining to peace and security.

More Firmly In Place
Do your false teeth annoy and em-
barrass by slipping, dropping or wab-
bling when you eat, laugh or talk? Just
sprinkle a little FASTEETH on your
plates. This alkaline (non-acid) powder
holds false teeth more firmly and more
comfortably.- 'No gummy, gooey, pasty
taste or feeling. Does not sour. Checks
“plate odor" (denture breath). Get
