Dr. Morris Talks
Monday to Council
Of Church Women
Dr. C. H. Morris, pastor of the
First Christian church, spoke to
members of the Council of
Church Women at their meeting
Monday afternoon in the Val-
ley View Methodist church.
Dr. Morris brought council
members an informative discus-
sion on conditions in the mission-
ary world. He outlined the pic-
ture in the United States, where
for the first time more than half
the populace is registered as be-
longing to some religious organ-
ization. Persons claiming relig-
ious affiliation number 84,000,-
775.
Missionary China was also dis-
cussed by the First Christian pas-
tor. He stated that though mis-
sionaries from this country have
had to leave, Chinese Christians
have assured them the work
would be carried on.

St Mary’s church, solemnized the [
vows. The nuptial service was
performed at 8 p.m. Sunday, July
29.
The bride wore a gown of white
lace with a bouffant skirt of
waltz length. Tiny covered but-
tons extended down the front of
the fitted bodice, whose high,
rounded neckline was emphasized
with a Peter Pan collar. The bride
carried a bouquet of stephanotis
surrounding a white orchid.
Mrs. James Geray of Lindsay
was matron of honor to her sis-
ter-in-law. She wore a pink
linen dress and had a halo of
light blue carnations.
T. C. Lewis, Jr., of Mesquite,
brother of the bridegroom, was
best man.
Mrs. Robert Bauer, sister of the
bride, honored the couple with a
reception in her home, 1110 North
Grand avenue, following the wed-
ding.
Approximately 30 relatives and
friends attended. The home em-
phasized the bridal theme with a
doll gowned for a wedding on the
buffet in the dining room. The
bride’s table was centered with
a bouquet of white asters.
Mrs. James Geray presided at
ca were also touched on by Dr.
Morris in his address. He was
introduced by Mrs. E. R. Wil-
lett.
Mrs. Tom Hayes, council presi-
dent, led the opening business
meeting, preceded by group sing-
ing and prayer by Mrs. Hattie
Green. The minutes were read
and approved.
Mrs. Mary Agnes Stone brought
an inspirational devotional, based
on Corinthians. She told of the
work of the disciples and how
they tried to improve social con-
ditions in their time.
A solo was presented by Rev.
Harold Lawson, Valley View
Methodist minister.
Following Dr. Morris’ talk, the
meeting was concluded with the
song “Faith of Our Fathers.”
