Child Welfare
Is Rotary Topic
Child welfare and the care of
mothers was the theme of an ad-
dress delivered to the Rotary Club
Thursday by Dr Calvin Hannah of
Baylor Medical College. Dallas, or
the 45 000,000 children to the Unit-
ed States, 10,000,00 are defliclent to
seme manner, Hannah stated, and
much of this is due to the lack of
knowledge in the home as to how
these deficiencies can be prevent-
ed, he added The speaker stressed
the need ol co-operation between
parents and the community to the
proper rearing of children, and the
necessity of providing facilities for
pre-natal care for the benefit of
mother and child. Hannah men-
tioned the heavy fatalities of babies
during the first year of life and
urged that further efforts be made
to prevent these deaths, many of
which are unnecessary.
