The expenses of a simple church
wedding should not be beyond your
means There is no charge for the
church, although if the ceremony is
to be in the evening, you might be
required to pay the sexton for open-
ing and lighting it; also for the or-
ganist.
Since you have no male member
of your immediate family to give
you away. I suggest that you ask
some old family friend. I do not
think, that at a formal wedding you
can dispense with this portion at
the ceremony, but the clergyman
who is to perform the ceremony is
your best authority Consult with
him as far ahead as possible.
It would not be necessary to set
the exact date, but it would be wise
to-acquaint yourself with his plans
and the church schedule
It I* not necessary to have an
attendant, although I suggest that
you do because someone should hold
your bouquet when you receive the
ring Besides, if the bridegroom is
to have a best man, you need an
attendant for balance. If you ex-
plain the whys and wherefores of
the position to your girl friends,
there should be no hard feeling
You might get out of your difficul-
ty by asking a sister of the groom
or another member of his family
to attend you.
It is permissible. I assure you.
for your bridegroom to wear a busi-
ness suit. But it is not good form
