Honoring Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Harral on their 50th wedding anniversary
members of the family gave a surprise dinner at their home at Argyle
recently. Mr. and Mrs. Harral came here from Arkansas and have been
residents of Denton County 37 years. Among those present at the dinner
were five at the couples children: Mrs. E. L. Arnold, Mrs J. 1 Ellis. Frank
Harral, Mrs. 8am Haynes and Jack Harral. Twenty-eight grandchildren
and fve great-grandchildren also were prascut, as was her sister. Mrs.

Mrs. Abby Loulaa McGinnis, pio-
neer Denton County resident who
observed her 91st birthday Thurs-
day. died about noon Friday. She
had been in poor health some time.
Mrs. McGinnis was the widow of
the late 8. J. McGinnis, to whom
she was married in Mt. Gilead, Tar-
rant County, Dec. U. m They
came to Old Elizabethtown, on Hen-
rietta Creek near the present town
of Roanoke, and lived there until
1387 when they moved to Roanoke.
In 1908 they came to Denton
She had been born in Califor-
nia, Mo., Sept. 9. 1846, and came
to Texas with her parents, the late
Mr. and Mrs. I Neace, to south-
eastern Denton County.
Surviving are five children: A.
C McGinnis of Denton, W. F. Mc-
Ginnis of Tulsa, Ok., 8 J. McGinnis
Jr., of Boerne, Mrs. Rosa Graham

underwent an abdominal operation
at Walter Reed Hospital this morn-
ing. Physicians said his condition
was satisfactory.

Boosters Meeting

On Football Topic
The gridiron atmosphere will pre-
vail Monday night when the Den-
ton Public School Boosters Club
holds its first regular meeting of
the football season to talk over 1937
Bronco prospects and to discuss the
September drive to sell season tick-
ets.
Already mapped, the ticket cam-
paign is under charge of Judge
Gambill, football committee chair-
man. who is slated to head the dis-
cussions of that phase of activities
Monday night. The session will start
that evening at 7:45 o'clock, in Sen-
ior High School auditorium, Presi-
dent Joe Skiles said today.
Though no official announcement
has been made, club members
seemed to feel there is k strong
likelihood some discussion will arise
concerning the new football stadi-
um whose structural safety has
been questioned before the school
trustees.

Cleveland of Detroit, Mich. All were
en route here Friday afternoon
except Mrs. Cleveland, who under-
went a major operation in Detroit
and was able to return to her home
only Thursday, and funeral ar-
rangements were not made pend-
ing the arrivals.
Funeral services probably will be
held here Saturday afternoon in
the First Baptist Church, of which
Mrs. McGinnis was long an active
worker, it was stated early Friday
afternoon. Mrs McGinnis had been
active in church work since she
joined the Baptist Church at Old
Elizabethtown.

Sheppards Return
From Arkansas Tour
Mr. and Mrs. V. W Shepard have
returned from a tour of Arkansas.
They first went to the famous apple
section, at Van Buren. Rogers and
I other points, and there visited can-
neries and a vinegar factory. They
also went to Little Rock, Eureka
Springs, Hot Springs and other
towns. It rained every day while
they were in Arkansas, Shepard
said Friday.
En route home they visited Mr.
and Mrs. Scott Galbraith, relatives
of Mrs. Shepard, at Paris.
AMONG SICK
Mrs. R A King, Sanger, under-
went a tonsillectomy Friday morn-
ing.
Mrs. Henry Knox. Krum, is a
medical pattent at the Denton Med-
ical and Surgical Clinic.
J. D. Curtsinger, Bolivar, who
cut his hand severely about two
weeks ago while sampling cotton,
was reported improved Friday morn-
ing.
Mrs Leon Howard. Celina, under-
went a tonsil operation Friday
morning
