Two men from Bellville and
two from Sealy were convicted of
felony charges in jury trials the
week of September 8th in
Bellville.
Five juries were selected
Monday. One competency hear-
ing and four criminal cases were
tried in four days. Oliver S.
Kitzman, judge of the 155th
judicial district, announced that it
was the most productive trial
week in his memory.
Alfred McNeese, 33, of
Bellville, was convicted of
delivery of cocaine. He was
sentenced by the jury to ten years
in the Texas Department of
Corrections.
Willie Lee Houston, 29, of
Bellville, was also convicted of
delivery of cocaine. The jury set
his punishment at 12 years in the
Texas Department of Corrections
and a fine of 51,000.
Both drug cases were the result
of an undercover drug operation
in Bellville in November, 1985.
The investigation, directed by the
Bellville Police Department and
the district attorney’s office, has
resulted in four felony con-
victions.
District Attorney Charles Hou-
ston said he was pleased with
the results of the undercover
operation. He stated that the
investigation was funded by
money seized from other drug
dealers.
“It’s a way of making
convicted drug dealers finance the
downfall of other drug dealers,
rather than using taxpayers funds
to do the job,’ Houston
explained. He said that in 1986,
80 percent of the individuals tried
by his office to a jury were found
guilty. “In every drug case we
tried, the jury sentenced the
defendant to the Texas Depart-
ment of Corrections” Houston
added.
Alfred McNeese and Willie
Houston are out on bond pending
the appeal of the convictions.
Tommy Lee Palmer, 20, and
Chester Jones, 31, both of Sealy,
were convicted of burglary of the
Sealy Oil Mill which occurred
January 12, of this year. Three
sacks of pecans were among the
