Nichols of W. C. says of Brink-
Brinkley began work at the
M&F State Bank in Weather-
ford where he served in vari-
ous capacities until 1961 when
Much comment is being made
nowadays on the unusual treat-
ment of the skylights in the li-
brary on the new campus. Plan
to go out and have a look while
you are attending Homecoming.
The annual all school picnic
for Weatherford College stu-
dents and faculty will begin at
noon on May 14 at Twin Points
near Azle. Regular Tuesday
classes will be changed to last
50 minutes instead of 75. The
first three period classes will
be held. At 11:00 a.m. school
will be dismissed for the picnic.
Each individual will bring his
own lunch and the student se-
nate will provide drinks.Swim-
ming, boating, relay races, sun-
ning, and general relaxing will
comprise the entertainment.
The largest group in the his-
tory of Weatherford College
will be graduated June 1 at 8:00
in the Weatherford High School
auditorium. Approximately 72
Associated of Art degrees 1
Applied Science degree, and 64
certificates of completion will
be awarded.

The Weatherford College
drama club, the Phoenix Play-
ers, is presenting its spring
production, “All Because of
Agatha”, on May 10 and 11
under the direction of Mr. Thom
Whitaker.
The cast includes: Maribess
Newsom, Greg Smith, Kathy
Lor an, Dana Nix, Pat O’Donald,
Patrick Rucker, Jackie Painter,
Ray Thorman, Larry Reid, and
Darlene Meyers.
The performances will be at
8:00 p.m. in the WC auditorium.
Special awards will be an-
nounced by President Nichols.
After the singing of the Alma
Mater and the recessional, a
reception will be held in the
lobby of the High School.

HARVEY ATTENDS FOUR C’s
CONVENTION
Jack R. Harvey was named a
consultant for the teaching of
English in the 2 year college for
the National Conference of Col-
lege Teachers of Composition
and Communication at a recent
convention held in Minneapolis.
The nationwide conference was
attended by over 1,000 English
teachers.
Harvey has also been elected
program chairman for the 1969
Southwest Regional CCCC Jun-
ior College Conference. Tar-
rant County College will be the
host college for the meeting.

After the processional and
invocation, President Nichols
will extend greetings. Dr. Woolf
will then address the graduates,
after which awards will be con-
ferred by Dean Morgan. Dr.
Morgan will then present the
class for the receiving of dip-
lomas. These will be awarded
by Mr. Howard Sprague, presi-
dent of the Board of Trustees
of Weatherford College.
The Coyote
The graduation speaker will
be Dr. J.R. Woolf, president of
the University of Texas at Ar-
lington. Dr. Woolf earned both
the BS. and M.S. degrees in
1948 from Texas A. and M.
University. He earned the Ph.D.
degree in 1951 at Purdue Uni-
versity. Dr. Woolf is a profes-
sional engineer.
A native of Sydney, Austra-
lia, Dr. Drakeford received his
B.A. degree from the Univer-
sity of Sydney and did graduate
work majoring in child guidance
at the Sydney Teacher’s College
where he received a graduate
diploma in education. He also
graduated from the New South
Wales Baptist Theological Sem-
inary. Drakeford received the
M.A. degree in psychology from
Texas Christian University, the
Th.M. degree in pastoral psy-
chology from Brite Divinity
School and the Doctor of Re-
ligious Education degree with
honors and Doctor of Education
degree fromSouthwesternSem-
inary.
A prolific writer and speaker,
Dr. Drakeford has written such
books as The Ego and I, Psy-
chology in Search of A Soul,
Counseling for Church Leaders,
Red Blueprint for the World,
and was co author of An Intro-
duction to Pastoral Counseling,
The Home Laboratory of Life,
The Great Sex Swindle, Inte-
grity Therapy, The Awesome
Power of a Listening Ear.

Brinkley was born June 27,
1926 in Weatherford, Texas. He
attended Weatherford Public
schools, graduated from Wea-
therford High School in May
1943, graduated from Weather-
ford College May 1945, and at-
tended TCU Evening College
1946 thru 1949, majoring in
Economics.
Brinkley was a member of
the North Side Baptst Church
in Weatherford, and served in
many of the organizations of
the church, as well as in the
Parker County Brotherhood As-
sociation. Also, he was active
in many civic organizations
while in Weatherford such as
the Weatherford Junior Cham-
ber of Commerce, Red Cross,
and the Weatherford United
Fund.

HOMECOMING FOR BOOKS
With this Homecoming, Wea-
therford College Library has
instituted a homecoming for lost
overdue books. During the
weeks remaining before the
move to the new campus on the
hill, it will observe a period of
amnesty, which is defined as an
intentional overlooking, in this
case of fines for lost or long
overdue books up to 1 January
1968.
In addition, the library al-
ways welcomes donations of
books from alumni.

Fort Worth, has been named - | A
Jack R. Harvey, chairman of
the Weatherford College Eng-
lish Department, has been
awarded the Piper Professor of
1968 Award. The award is given
by the Minnie Stevens Piper
Foundation for excellence in
teaching.
The Piper Foundation is dedi-
cated to aiding the teaching pro-
fession in Texas each year,
plus loan programs for college
and post-graduate work. It has
been established in the honor of
Mrs. Randall G. Piper, the wife
of a San Antonio Oil man.
Mr. Harvey, a native of East
Texas, received his B. A. at
Stephen F. Austin State College,
his M. A. at the University of
Texas at Ausiin, and post-grad-
uate work at New York Uni-
versity. His thirty years of
teaching experience include in
three public and private schools
and has taught courses for in-
dustry. “I feel that I am a
fortunate man that I have found
the level I wish to teach, and
that is Junior College .”he stat-
ed. For the past 13 years, Mr.
Harvey has been affiliated with
Weatherford College.
The recipients of the Piper
Award receive a check for $1,-
000. “I haven’t decided what to
do with my money. I enjoy
spending it in my mind a mil-
lion times,” he said happily.
