TF there’s any such thing as a
- lucky number, Fort Worth’s
is "18."
Two of the city’s newest sky-
scrapers tower 1* stories, and
the latest to be built by the
Jesse Jones interests at Seventh
and Throckmorton Streets will
rise to the same height.
Clay Derry, manager for
Jones here, can't give any spe-
cial reason for Fort Worth’s
apparent preference for the 18-
story building.
“With the exception of the
Rice Hotel at Houston, we
haven’t another 18-story build-
ing in the State,” Derry says.
“Guess it's just a coincidence.
However, 18 stories is an ideal
height for a building.' It's not
so high It clutters up traffic un-
duly, and it's high enough to be
imposing.”
