of these facts, we need to elect
a man with dedication and fore-
sight for the future. The challen-
ge* of the 1970’s will determine
the path of our future.
Education in Texas is on the
climb but we are still faced with
many problems now and in years
ahead. Agriculture is still one of
our main incomes In our district;
therefore, we must help the far-
mer and the dairyman with his
problems. Industry is on the
move in our region and we must
be ready for this vast expansion
program.
New bills and laws are going
to have to be introduced to com-
bat the Drug and Crime wave
that is up over 100% since 1968.

To the people of Camp, Hop-
bins, Upshur and Wood Counties:
With less than 30 days to the
democratic primary, let me take
this opportunity to introduce my-
self and solicit your vote for the
May primary.
My name is Tim Kelty, your
candidate for State Representa-
tive, 11th legislative district.
I was born to Maurice and
Odene Nolen Kelty in Hopkins
County September 29, 1937. A
1955 graduate of Sulphur Springs
Public Schools, I received a B.S.
degree in January, 1960, from
East Texas State University,
majoring in history and minoring
in music education. I taught in
Sulphur Springs Public Schools
for four years, and in this time
secured 18 hours toward a Mas-
ters degree.
I am married to the former
Karen Thurman of Delta County,
and we have been blessed with
three children: Mike, 8; Karol
Ann, 4; and Tommy, 2.
In 1965 I entered the General
Insurance business in which I
am still engaged.
In 1967 I formed a partnership
with F. Gene Watson of Sulphur
Springs consisting of Home Con-
struction and Real Estate
Company.
My civic involvements have
been charter member of the Sul-
phur Springs Jaycees serving as
Treasurer, Vice President, and
President. In 1969 I was elected
State Director of the Texas Jay-
served as Music Director in the
First Baptist Churches of Mount
Vernon, Cooper, and Interim Dir-
ector in Winnsboro. I am a mem-
ber of the First Baptist Church
where I have served as Superin-
tendent of the Young Peoples
Department and currently as
Assistant Coordinator of the Adult
Division. I am a member of the
Child Welfare Board and a life-
long Democrat.
I realize that there are less
than 30 day* until the democratic
primary and in case I -am not
able to meet you personally dur-
ing that time, let me take this
opportunity to speak to you.
We live in one of the greatest
areas for growth and opportunity
in the State of Texas and because

rights and morals of our young
people but we have a responsibil-
ity to the Senior Citizens of our
communities which we must also
help.
This district has long been
favored with excellent leadership
and representation in Austin and
I feel it should continue to do so.
That is why it is extremely im-
portant to elect a man with ex-
perience and understanding.
Vote May 2 For TIM KEurY
