Miss Mary Ruth Barton ex-
changed nuptial vows with Hor-
ace Henley, Jr. of Lorenzo in a
double ring ceremony Saturday
evening in the home ( of her par-
ents, Mr. anti Ms. William Ald-
ridge Barton, in Utley. Only the
immediate families of the couple
and a few close friends were pre-
sent.
Baptist Church in Bastrop, read
the service before tall baskets of
white gladioli and fern decorated
with white satin bows placed in
the living room between double
windows. On the piano were cry-
stal candelabra holding lighded
white tapers and an arrangement
of white carnations surroundeney
natural green leaves. 6d
Given in marriage by her father
Miss Barton wore a Handmacher
suit of powder blue with navy ac-
cessories. Her only jewelry was
rhinestone earrings, gift of the
bridegroom. She carried a single
white orchid attached to a white
prayer book with satin streamers
entwined with sprays of stephan-
otis.
As maid of honor Miss Helen
Bishop wore a dressmaker suit of
pink with a corsage of blue iris.
As bridesmaids, Miss Golda Gallo-
way wore a grey suit and Miss
Edna Parker a suit of creamy
beige. Both wore corsages of pink
glamelia.
Bobiby Henley attended his
brother as (best man. Billy and
Bobby Barton, brothers of the
bride, served as ushers.
All three of Miss Barton’s at-
tendants and the best man are
students at Texas Technological
College in Lubbock.
Mrs. John Barton, aunt of the
bride, played the traditional wed
ding music.
Following the ceremony an in-
formal reception was held. The
bride’s table was covered with a
lace cloth and centered with an
arrangement of gladioli, stock and
carnations all in white and tied
with a large satin bow. Flanking
the centerpiece were silver candel-
abra holding lighted white tapers.'
The two-tiered wedding cake was
embossed with sweetheart roses
and topped with a miniature bride
and groom.
Mrs. Buck Christian of Elgin
served the cake and Miss Bar-
bara Lane, University of Texas
student, presided at the punch
bowl. Miss Julia Lane presided
at the coffee service. Mrs. Law-
rence McDuff of Elgin was at the
service talble and Miss Geraldine
McDuff presided at the bride’s
register book.
After a wedding trip to San An-
tonio the couple will be at home
in Lorenzo, where the groom will
be associated with his father as n
cotton farmer. He is now in the
Volunteer Army Reserve. He was
graduated from Lubbock High
School and attended Texas Tech-
nological College in Lubbock.
Mrs. Henley, granddaughter of
the late John Barton, Se., of Ut-
ley, attended grammar and jun-
ior high school in Elgin, was grad-

ing her sister, Mrs L. F. Baller-
stedt.
