Captain Dubar
Entertains Friends
Sunday, Jan. 20 Captain Isa-
belle Dubar was hostess at the
home of her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. W. R. Gillum, to a number
of friends and relatives. Features
of the afternoon were displays of
silks, linens and art goods from
Japan, China and Okinawa and
color slides of the many places of
interest covered in 28 months
outside the United States.
Prior to leaving for the Far
East in 1949, Captain Dubar
toured Canada from Toronto to
Vancouver. Enroute to Yokohoma
her ship stopped for a day in
Honolulu. Her assignments were
in Kyoto, Tokyo, Tachikawa and
Nagoya, Japan, and in Okinawa.
She returned to Elgin via Mexico
and attended four bull fights
while there.
Mrs. Herbert Schroeder assist-
ed her sister in serving a buffet
supper laid around a collection of
shells from the Pacific Ocean and
East China Sea.
Out of town guests were Mr.
and Mrs. Nick Tarrazas and son,
Richard James, of Austin, and
Frank Dubar of Houston.
Captain Dubar left the next
day for Lackland Air Force Base,
San Antonio for her next as-
signment as dietitian of the hos-
pital there.
Ridge of San Antonio and Dr.
and Mrs. S. T. Warner at their
home Saturday night..
Mrs. Joe H. King is visiting
her nephew and his family, Mr.
and Mrs. Edgar Holliday, in Long
Beach, Calif.
IMr. and Mrs. Roy Davis of
Beaumont visited Mr. and Mrs.
Ed Davis over the week-end.
Paul Carlson and W. F. Voelker
attended the annual meeting of
Texas soil conservation district
supervisors at Brownwood last
week.
Mrs. Ned Owens was a week-
end visitor with Miss Edith Heus-
sew and Willson Heussew in
Bertram.

Tomblin of Bastrop were .Sunday
guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. B.
Tomblin and family.
C. B. Tomblin of Killeen and
Bill Tomblin of Sinton visited
relatives over the week-end.

with Southwest Bell Telephone
Co. and has taken an apartment
with Miss Nell Owens.
Mrs. Martin Anderson visited
Mr. and Mrs. R. Magnuson and
children last week.
