biggest growth issues is
continuing to deal with
the water service needs
and issues around the pe-
riphery of the Elgin in-
corporated area and the
area within the first cou-
ple of miles of our cur-
rent city limits.”
When asked to look
into his crystal ball, Vick
reflected, “I see two
areas of excitement in
the future. One will just
be the growth around the
US Highway 290 corri-
dor. The second will be
how Elgin attempts to
blend the maintenance
of its agricultural her-
itage with that growth.”
Vick has maintained a
high level of respect as a
result of his energetic
and positive approach to
the business of making
Elgin a better place. He
enjoys a good reputation
both within the work
place and the entire com-
munity.
“I want to thank the
Mayor, City Council
members and staff I have
had the pleasure of work-
ing with during my
tenure with Elgin. The
Chamber of Commerce
and its leadership have
been fantastic. The
Elgin Economic Develop-
ment Corporation is a
great entity and I cannot
say enough about the
close and supportive re-
lationship that exist be-
tween them and the City.
The relationship be-
tween the city and the
ISD and County is fan-
tastic and I appreciate
that so much. Both enti-
ties have worked with
the city to save taxpayers
money in so many ways.
I have continually been
amazed at the support
from the community at
large and the number of
citizens that are willing
to make personal sacri-
fices to make Elgin a bet-
ter place.
“I believe Elgin is a
better place today than
before and if that is true,
it is because of the com-
munity spirit that rises
up and supports the im-
provement of Elgin,”
Vick commented.
He will now be city
manager with the city of
Watauga that is very
near his home in North
Richland Hills. Watauga
is a city of between
23,000 and 24,000.
